Last night, at the Mayflower Hotel in DC, there was a professional boxing card hosted by Alarm.com, a Tysons Corner, VA based security company. This was a private event, and the media was also not allowed to cover it.
The card featured three local fighters. The main event of the card was former WBO Junior Welterweight champion
DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley (40-21-1, 23 KO's) facing Javier Garcia of Oxnard, CA (10-3-2, 9 KO's) in a eight round contest. Corley showed the his ring experience was just too much for Garcia. The fight ended when Garcia refused to answer the bell after round six. Corley said "I just broke him down and I was too strong for him. They might have tried to build a fighter but they picked the wrong fight for Garcia last night. They should have picked someone else."
The other bout of the evening co-featured a six round contest between two local cruiserweights
Andre Ward (1-1-4, 1 KO) and
Mario"Bazooka" Flores (3-1-2, 2 KO's). These two competed before in a four round bout at the Patriot Center on October 27, 2012 to a draw. The six round bout last night ended with the same results.
