Battle Of Seasoned Veterans Finished With Robert Guerrero Victorious Over Victor Ortiz

Robert Guerrero grabbed a unanimous decision win in their co-feature of the Manny Pacquiao vs Yordenis Ugas PPV card at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Saturday night. The punch count was in favor of 38-year-old Guerrero (37-6-1, 20 KO's) as he out-landed the 34-year-old Victor Ortiz (32-7-3, 25 KO's) in  this welterweight contest, but fans wanted to see more punching action than holding.

Most of the action was in the first half of this contest. Toward the end of an inactive ninth round that mirrored some of the previous rounds, fans started booing. Judges Tim Cheatham, Glenn Feldman and David Sutherland all scored the fight the same, 96-94.

Yordenis Ugas Unanimous Decision Over Manny Pacquiao!

In front of a crowd of 17,438 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night, Yordenis Ugas held on to his WBA title with a unanimous decision victory over the aging Manny Pacquiao, 42.

It was the size, physicality and style of boxing that gave Yordenis Ugas the advantage over Manny Pacquiao as the 12-round title fight went the distance. Maybe five or ten years ago Pacquiao could have made things difficult for Ugas, but the aged Pacquiao showed signs of a ending career. One could only imagine the outcome if it was the highly talented Errol Spence Jr. on this night landing those hard shots on Pacquiao.

Yordenis Ugas (27-4, 12 KOs) took the fight on just 11 days notice after unified champion Errol Spence Jr. withdrew because of an eye injury. Manny Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KO's) couldn't figure out a way to takeover the fight while Ugas relied on defense and hard counterpunching to fight his way to victory. All three judges scored it for Ugas, Patricia Morse Jarman 113-115, Dave Moretti 112-116 and Steve Weisfeld 112- 116.
