Alantez "SlyAza" Fox Dominates Nick Brinson To Get TKO Victory!

(Photos by Quentin Ngobeh, FairShakeBoxing)

In the main event of the Tricky Entertainment / DC Fight Night card at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, DC, Forestville, MD super middleweight Alantez "SlyAza" Fox defeated Nick Brinson of Geneva, NY by TKO.

Alantez Fox made good use of his jab as he landed it cleanly on Brinson to set up a crushing right hand that sent Brinson to the canvas for a eight count in the first round. Fox showed good defense as he blocked the counter punches Brinson was trying to land. It was clearl that the jab of Fox made the bout hard for Brinson to get ahead at anytime of the contest. When Brinson did land shots it wasn't enough to win rounds. Fox added some body work to take some of the air out of Brinson. Brinson started to look tired as he was getting hit with those hard shots from Fox. Fox was in complete control of the bout as he continued landing his jab and mixing in body work to keep Brinson off balance. To open round six the ringside physician was called up by the referee to take a look at Brinson to see if he was okay to continue fighting. Everything checked out good so the action continued. Fox put on the pressure until a member from Brinson's team asked for the bout to be stopped. The referee waived the contest off at 2:46 of the sixth round.

Fox is now (25-1-1, 12 KO's) while Nick Brinson falls to (19-5, 2 KO's).

Brown took back control as she landed multiple combinations to back Gladney off of her. In the fourth round Brown landed some beautiful uppercuts when the two fighter were in close. At the midway point of the bout Brown landed some hard straight right hands and followed them up with some hard hooks to the head of Gladney. Gaines started off looking in control of the opening round, but Melendez started to land counter shots on Gaines to make the fight look very close. The fighters gave the crowd a show as they landed some clean shots on each other. Gaines would land some great uppercuts while Melendez returned with some hard straight right hands. All three judges scored the contest for Gaines , 39-37 twice and 40-36.

Gaines improves to (10-2, 3 KO's) while Melendez fall to (5-26,1 KO).

Patrick Harris wins by DQ over Anthony Woods.
Harris executed  some great bodywork in this bout. He opened up the first-round using his speed by landing counter shots off of the slow jabs Woods was attempting. In round two Harris went to the body of Woods more aggressively. The body was the key as Harris used those shots to set up some hard left hands. Early in the third round a point was taken away from Woods without warning. Before the round could end two more points were taken ultimately ending the contest by disqualification at 2:06 of the third round.

Harris improves to (16-0, 8 KO's) as Woods falls to (10-24, 3 KO's).

In a featherweight bout Jordan "ShortDog" White of Washington, DC won by six-round unanimous decision over veteran Christian Esquivel of Temoya, Mexico.

White did a good job of keeping his distance to establish the use of his jab in the  opening round. He used the jab to open up opportunities for him to slide inside to land some good body and head shots on Esquivel. Round two was a little different. White came out throwing hard shots, but Esquivel didn't back down by landing some good counter shots on White. In round three White landed some hard combinations that sent Esquivel falling into the ropes which could have been called a knockdown but wasn't. When it looked as if White was hurting Esquivel, Esquivel would fire back some good shots of his own. The exchange of power favored White at the midway point of the bout, but Esquivel wasn't giving in. In round five White landed a low blow causing the referee to give Esquivel time to recover. White closed out the six and final round by pinning Esquivel against the ropes and landing some hard shots as the bell sounded. White received scores in his favor from all the judges 59-55, and 60-54 twice.

White improves to (8-1,  6 KO's) while the vetran Esquivel falls to (30-18-2, 23 KO's).

Final Quotes From Jarrett Hurd After Losing The Unified Title To Julian Williams!

Jarrett Hurd:

"He is a lot sharper than I expected. I knew he had great inside game. It was a little better than I expected. He landed some great shots inside. I thought the close fight was going to benefit me, but it went to both sides.

"I was surprised when I went down because the punch really wasn't on my face or chin, it was on the side of the head and I fell over. I wasn't dizzy, but it did surprise me.

"The pressure didn't get to me. I just feel like J-Rock truly was the better man tonight. I kind of think hearing my hometown with my name being chanted, it caused me to try a little harder instead of just staying relaxed and take my time. That could have played a part, but no excuses.

"I felt like they had a game plan that worked better tonight. We also had a game plan and it was to keep the pressure on him, but he came in shape and he came out the victor.

"I definitely want the rematch. They can stitch me up right now and I could go out there and do it.

"If I could do it differently, I would have taken my time more. I was trying too hard to land big punches. I saw that I started to hurt him in the sixth round. I had him on the ropes. I was trying to keep that momentum in the middle rounds. If I had kept that momentum, I would have won the fight."

Greg "SharpShooter" Outlaw Dominates Martin Matamala To Remain Undefeated!

(Photos by David Algranati)

The movement, speed and accuracy of Outlaw was too much for Matamala. Outlaw put together a number of combinations that lead to sending Matamala to the canvas in the third round. Outlaw saw that his pressure was overpowering so he kept it up in the fourth round to send Matamala down once again. After that knockdown the referee put a stop to the contest at 18 seconds of the round.

Outlaw improves to (8-0, 3KO's) and Matamala drops to (11-8, 3 KO's).
