Media Workout Day for the Peterson Brothers

Today May 3, 2012 at the Headbangers gym in SE Washington DC, the Peterson Camp made time for the media to get their photos and interviews in. The Peterson brothers did a short but intense workout. They will be leaving DC next Saturday May 12th headed to Las Vegas for the much talked about Peterson vs Khan rematch on May 19th at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Nevada. Lamont Peterson is more than ready and says that he will make Khan fight his type of fight. He also says he is focused and has been training the same way as he would be training for any other fight he gets ready for. Peterson is the champion and plans on remaining the champion after May 19th. He also gives much credit to all the members in his camp for getting him ready for each fight and getting him to the point in his career he is at now, that's being the World Champion. Both Lamont and younger brother Anthony knew in the amateur careers that this day would come. They visioned being in the hunt for world titles and becoming world champions. Also Lamont Peterson talked about all the great local fighting talent in the area.  He says hopefully with all this local boxing talent we have in the area boxing will be back in DC again soon.

Bring Boxing Back To The DMV

People are starting to see why boxing is on a huge comeback in the areas of Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. The professional fighters in these areas are starting to open the eyes of the many fans of boxing that focus their attention on all the fights in other areas like Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Boxing can be huge in the DMV if the fans, the fighters and coaches pull together and support each others careers. This is the Nations Capital and one of the hottest locations for high profile professional boxing events. There are many venues in the area that are capable of hosting such events such as the Verizon Center, Walter E Washington Convention Center both which are located in the heart of DC. Also there is the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia just outside of DC and in Maryland there is the Showplace Arena in Upper Marlboro and Du Burns Arena in Baltimore. So location is definitely not the issue. What more will it take to make boxing a huge success  in the Nations Capital? "Money", yes that's a big issue but the big promotion companies will have no problem making money here. They just have to bring the fights here.
