Lorenzo "TRUCK" Simpson Remains Undefeated With Win In New York!

In a six-round middleweight contest, Baltimore, MD's Lorenzo "TRUCK" Simpson won by unanimous decision over Antonio Hernandez of Kansas City at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.


Simpson did a great job of using his jab and some good bodywork with the left hand. Simpson's jab setup some his left hooks that landed to the head of Hernandez in the middle of this scheduled six-round contest. In round four Simpson moved in closer to capitalize on the body shots that seemed to bother Hernandez in the early rounds. Simpson looked very relaxed going into the fifth-round as he showed a little more movement. Hernandez was very game while he exchanged shots with Simpson and even landed a few good shots of his own to win round five.. Both fighters came out slugging in the final round. This clearly looks like the type of fight Simpson needed to have at this point of his career. Hernandez stood in strong and took everything Simpson had to offer as the contest ended. All the judges scored the bout for Simpson, 59-55.

Lorenzo Simpson remains undefeated with a record of (7-0, 4 KO's) while Hernandez falls to (2-11-1).

 

Rosario Gives Boxing Fans And Williams A Shocking Ending!

Jeison Rosario won the World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation super welterweight titles Saturday, stopping hometown hero Julian Williams in the fifth round at Temple University's Liacouras Center.

"I'm so emotional in this moment right now," Rosario said through an interpreter. When I lost my [first] fight I said I will never lose again until I become champion of the world and that's what happened tonight. I came prepared. I knew before the fight that I was going to win it. I knew it. It is no surprise for me," said Sampson Lewkowicz, Rosario's promoter. I said to everyone before the fight that we will win by KO before the sixth round and that is exactly what happened. Anytime [Williams] wants a rematch we will honor [his contractual rematch option]."

"I would have started doing training camps a little earlier if I had known these were going to be the results," Rosario said. "Thanks to Philadelphia and to Julian Williams. Without this opportunity I wouldn't be champion today."

Williams:

"I wasn't surprised he was so good. I told everybody he's a real fighter. I have to accept it. The cut blurred my vision a little bit, but it wasn't the reason why I lost. He was the better fighter tonight. We've got a rematch clause. I'll see him again soon. I'll be back."

James Early Drops Decision In Texas!

James Early out of Seat Pleasant, MD lost by six-round unanimous decision against James Wilkins of Staten Island, NY at the Alamodome in San Antonio on the Munguia/O'Sullivan undercard.

Scores were 60-54, 60-54, 58-56, all for Wilkins.

Early's boxing ability and movement frustrated Wilkins in the first two rounds.  Wilkins kept the pressure on throughout, and outworked Early in the second half of the fight. 

Wilkins improved his record to (9-1, 6 KO's) while Early falls to (4-6).

Alejandra Jimenez Defeats Francon Crews-Dezurn To Capture WBC And WBO Titles!

Former heavyweight title holder Alejandra Jimenez moved down to super middleweight to win the WBC and WBO titles by split decision over Franchon Crews-Dezurn at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX.

The fight started fast, with Crews-Dezurn going right at Jimenez, but Jimenez proved capable of taking Franchon’s shots without a lot of real trouble. Crews-Dezurn appeared to look tired early from the aggressive start, but she fought with a ton of determination as she shook off obvious fatigue. Crews-Dezurn continued to throw at Jimenez, who kept coming forward the entire fight. Jimenez definitely had her moments as she landed plenty of hard shots on Crews-Dezurn, who also kept coming forward herself. Crews-Dezurn was the more heavy handed of the two, but Jimenez aggressively let her hands fly throughout each round until the finalbell sounded.

Jimenez did say after the fight that Crews-Dezurn hits hard.

It was a battle between Alejandra Jimenez and Franchon Crews-Dezurn as both fighters looked battered and bruised as the score cards were announced. Jimenez (13-0-1, 9 KO) won by the scores of 97-93 and 98-92 in her favor, with one card going to Crews-Dezurn (6-2, 2 KO), 97-93.

Gervonta Davis Stops Yuriorkis Gamboa In The 12th To Win WBA Lightweight Title!

Baltimore, MD's Gervonta "Tank" Davis earns a hard fought twelfth-round TKO over Yuriorkis Gamboa at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA. 


Davis landed good shots to Gamboa's body early in the opening round. Davis lands a left and right combination to the body and head to send Gamboa to the canvas in the second-round. Gamboa complained about something that was going on with his foot. Gamboa recovered from the knockdown and battled through his foot issue to stay in the fight. 

Davis was winning rounds but it wasn't by his normal punch output the crowd was use to seeing. Gamboa kept coming forward in each round even after getting caught a number of times with big shots from Davis. Davis continued to land hard shots but the determined Gamboa stood upright. In the eighth-round Davis landed a hard left hook that dropped Gamboa for the second time in the fight to close the round. 

In the tenth-round it was a moment where Davis wasn't focused and Gamboa landed a three punch combination that got Davis's attention. 

In the eleventh-round Davis excited the crowd when made Gamboa stumble after landing a hard right-left combination. Davis attacked Gamboa in the beginning of the twelfth-round by landing multiple left hands, before dropping him with a left uppercut that caused referee Jack Reiss to stop the contest at 1:17. 

Davis was ahead by a huge margins on all three scorecards entering the 12th round. Judges Edward Kanner and Steve Weisfeld each had Davis in front 109-98 through 11 rounds, whereas judge Dave Moretti had Davis in front 109-97 at that point.

Gervonta "Tank" Davis wins his third title in three weight divisions while remaining undefeated at (23-0, 22 KO's). Yuriorkis Gamboa falls to (30-3, 18 KO's).

Super lightweight Malik Hawkins (18-0, 11 KOs) of Baltimore, MD defeated Darwin Price, now (16-1, 9 KOs) by fifth-round TKO. Price appeared to blow out his right knee during an exchange of punches just ove the midway point of round five. He was unable to continue so the bout was stopped at 1:18.

Clinton, MD jr. welterweight Kareem Martin won by eight-round majority decision over Petros Ananyan of Brooklyn , NY by the scores of 78-74, 78-74, 76-76. Martin's record improves to (14-2-1, 4 KO's) as Ananyan falls to (14-2-2, 7 KO's).

The bout will be televised on Showtime along with former two-division world champion Badou Jack taking on Jean Pascal in a twelve-round co-feature bout.

Malik Hawkins tipped the scales at 139.4 for his 10-round contest against fellow undefeated boxer Darwin Price, who came in at the super lightweight limit of 140.

Malik Warren weighed 130 pounds for his four-rounder against Trayvion Butts, who tipped the scales at 129 pounds.

Kareem Martin came in at 139 for his eight-round bout against Petros Ananyan, who weighed 140 pounds.

Mia Ellis weighed in at 131.2 for her pro debut against Uneaka Best, who will also debut, weighing in at 123.8 pounds.
