Luis Arias Gives "Swift" Jarrett Hurd His Second Defeat!

On Sunday night, June 6, Jarrett Hurd lost by split decision in a 10-round middleweight contest to Luis Arias on the Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul undercard at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Arias landed hard right hands throughout the early rounds of their bout to establish a lead on the judges scorecards. Hurd spent a lot of time trying to do some inside work where he land a few of his famous uppercut that normally would end fights for him. That strategy worked in favor for Arias because most of Hurd's shot were smothered and not as effective. When Hurd kept his distance he was able to land some good jabs that backed up Arias. Unfortunately for Arias a slip was scored as a knockdown for Hurd midway through the bout. As the tenth round drew near Hurd and Arias had some good exchanges. Both fighters battled until the final bell sounded. 

Judge John Rupert scored their fight 95-93 for Hurd, but he was overruled by judges Mark Streisand (97-93) and Toby Tamarkin (96-93) giving Arias the split decision win.

Hurd suffers the second defeat of his career and now is 24-2, (16 KO's) while Arias improves to 19-2-1, (9 KO's). 

Beltway Boxers Get Two Out Of Four Wins In Philly!

It was an up and down night for local Beltway area fighters that participated on a Kings Promotions day-night doubleheader at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 5.

In the main event of the second Kings Promotions card Hagerstown, MD's Genc Pllana stopped Brandon Robinson of Upper Darby, PA by KO at 33 seconds of the eighth round.

Pllana is know for his awkward boxing style and Saturday night he made it work to his advantage by using his jab finally get the distance he needed to land a hard right hand in the corner that put Robinson down to end the fight.

Pllana improves his record to 9-3-1, (5 KO's) and Robinson is now 15-3, (10KO's).

Frederick, Md's Devar Ferhadi won by eight-round unanimous decision over Blake Mansfield of Burlington, NC in another super middleweight contest that took place Saturday night on that Kings Promotions action packed card. 

(Report from photographer Daniel Cork), Devar impressive throughout. Mansfield got in several tough exchanges but Devar rolled with them very well. Judges scored the the bout 80-72 and 79-73 twice for Ferhardi. 

Devar Ferhardi keeps a undefeated record of 9-0, (7 KO's) while Mansfield falls to 7-4-1, 4 KO's).

Bowie, MD's Greg Outlaw suffers his first defeat to Andrew Rodgers of Elkhart, IN. (Report from photographer Daniel Cork), Outlaw was really sharp early on but faded in the middle rounds. Outlaw was knocked down in round 5. Rodgers won by unanimous decision with scores of 57-56 and 58-55 twice.

Outlaw now has a record of 8-1, (3 KO's) while Rodgers adds a win to his record of 5-9-2, (2 KO's).

Edgar Torres of Woodbridge, VA gets stopped at 46 seconds into round one of a scheduled six-round welterweight bout by Kashan Hutchinson of Reading, PA. Hutchinson landed a number of head shots and then added more power to send Torres into the ropes that caused the fight to be stopped. Hutchinson is now 8-5, (2 KO's) while Torres has a disappointing return and falls to 8-8-1, (4 KO's).

Edgar Torres, not much to add beyond that which I posted. Hutchinson came on strong from the start and troubled Edgar early, getting the stoppage at 0:46 of 1 on what would’ve been the first knockdown, Torres held up by the ropes

Four Beltway Boxers Will Be In Action This Friday On A #KINGSPROMOTIONS Card In Philly! 

On Saturday, June 5th at the 2300Arena in Philadelphia, PA, Hagerstown, MD super middleweight "G-Money" Genc Pllana will headline one of the cards in an eight-round bout against Brandon "Brob" Robinson of Upper Darby, PA.

Frederick, MD super middleweight "Jengawar" Devar Ferhadi returns to action in a six-round bout against Blake "KO King" Mansfield of Burlington, NC. 

Bowie, MD super lightweight Greg Sharp Shooter Outlaw will be in a six-round contest against Andrew Rodgers of Elkhart, IN. 

Also, Woodbridge, VA super welterweight "The Tiger" Edgar Torres will return to the ring for first time since January of 2016. He is scheduled to take Kashon Hutchinson of Reading, PA in a six-round contest.

Capitol Heights, MD Jr. Welterweight Antuanne Russell Stops Jovanie Santiago in Six!

Russell, the undefeated prospect had no problems with Puerto Rico’s Jovanie Santiago, forcing a stoppage after six rounds in their junior welterweight contest Saturday evening at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. 

Russell dropped Santiago in round four with a perfectly placed right hook. Santiago managed to beat the count of referee Sharon Sands but spend the rest of the round on the trying to avoid the pressure of Russell's hard shots to the body and jabs to the head. 

Russell stalked his opponent as he landed more body and head shots that had Santiago in trouble midway through round six. As the round ended Santiago made his way to the stool but his corner saw enough so they stopped the contest. 

Russell improves his record to a perfect 14-0, (14 KO's) while Santiago suffered his second straight defeat falls to 14-2-1 (10KOs).

Daron Williams Wins ABF Title With Easy Performance!

On Saturday night, May 22nd, Washington, DC super bantamweight Daron "Sweet Tay" Williams put in some short work to win the ABF title on a Vegas Grand Boxing Promotions card at the Greenville Marriot in Greenville, SC. Williams defeated Robert Ledesma of San Antonio, TX by  technical knockout at 1:21 of the opening round of a scheduled six-round contest.  

The southpaw Williams dropped Ledesma twice in this contest. The first came when Williams landed a short right hook to the ear of Ledesma that sent him to the canvas for an eight-count. After recovering Williams missed with an uppercut but came back with a left hook that sent Ledesma on his back. He tried to make a quick recovery by rolling backwards to his feet, but referee Kenny Chevalier waived the bout off. 

Coming into this contest, Williams, now (9-1, six KO's) has not fought since scoring a second-round TKO over Raymond Chacon in September of 2019 in Sterling, VA. Williams originally was to be in a six-round encounter against Diamond J. Baker of Phoenix, AZ by way of the Philippines, but Robert Ledesma was his replacement on short notice.

MISAEL LOPEZ vs. JORDAN WHITE One Of The Featured BRANDUN LEE vs. SAMUEL TEAH Card In Connecticut

Junior lightweight prospects Misael Lopez and Jordan White will square off on March 10 in an eight-round bout that will take place inside the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Jordan White (10-1, 8 KO's), who resides in Washington, DC, stopped previously-unbeaten Rolando Solis in his last bout on February 28 of last year. The 23-year-old has won his last six bouts, five by knockout, since losing by unanimous decision to Adam Lopez in May 2017. White is definitely not the same fighter from 2017.

The 24 year old Lopez (11-0, 5 KO's) is originally from Agua Prieto, Mexico and now resides in Denver, Colorado, last fight was on October 2019 in Houston. The outcome of the fight was a one-sided victory for Lopez, but the Texas Commission changed the  result to a no-contest when the victor tested positive for banned substance. Lopez has fought on a ShoBox telecast back in September 2018 when he defeated James Wilkins, who was undefeated at that time.
