Boxing returns tomorrow night, May 28, 2022 when Rising Star Promotions led by middleweight contender and World Title challenger Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna, DHH Promotions headed by undefeated D.C. contender Dusty Hernández Harrison and Mike Walters’ TCMFB Boxing in association with Events DC return to the Sports and Entertainment Arena in Washington, DC.

The official weigh-in, open to public, will be held at 1pm this Friday, May 27 at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Washington, DC Capitol-Navy Yard (Capital Room/Lounge - 2nd Floor), 50 M St, SE, Washington, DC 20003.

Gervonta Tank Davis vs. Rolando Rolly Romero Final Press Conference Quotes

Baltimore MD's five-time world champion Gervonta Davis, and un defeated No.1 ranked contender Rolando Romero faced off at their final press conference Thursday before they go to war in the SHOWTIME PPV main event this Saturday, May 28 as they headline a Premier Boxing Champions card from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The PPV telecast is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The card is promoted by Mayweather Promotions, GTD Promotions and TGB Promotions.

The press conference took place at the Brooklyn Marriott, and here is what the participants had to say:

GERVONTA DAVIS

“I want to thank everybody for coming out. I appreciate everyone who came out today and everyone who made this fight happen. I’m ready and I’m happy to be at this point. The talking is over and the time for fighting is now.

“We’ve been working hard in camp and we know that ‘Rolly’ is going to come out in round one and try to knock me out like he said. I’ll be ready for that. I’ll see everyone Saturday. The time is here and I’m ready.

“I’m excited to be back in Brooklyn and back at Barclays Center. This is a great city that always shows me love. It’s always been like a second home to me. I’m grateful to be back.

“I won my first title here in Brooklyn and then won a second title at Barclays Center as well. I feel like this fight at this arena is great for boxing.

“I’m maturing and I’m still learning as I walk this path. I have the people that I started with around me and I’m grateful. Nothing else to say except Saturday night is ‘Rolly’s’ due date.

“This is going to be fireworks. It’s going to be crazy in there. I just hope he doesn’t use his elbows like he does a lot.

“I don’t think he’s awkward. I just think he’s a guy who just started fighting. He’s like someone who just came into the gym. He’s like someone who thinks he’s nice now even though he hasn’t gotten it down pat yet. Real fighters know awkward fighters, he’s just a dumb fighter.

“I just want to show people that there are different levels when it comes to boxing. There are people that play boxing and there are people who have been doing this since they were kids. It’s time to show that I’m one of the guys who’s not to be played with. It starts with him and it’s going to continue.”

“This guy Davis talks about everything but the fight. He’s taking this fight personally. My job is just to beat him up. He’s very emotional. That’s why I’ve been calling him out.

“He has a big head for me to hit. I’m not going to say what punch I’m getting him with, but you’re all going to see on Saturday night. This is ending in one round.

“I’m ready to get violent in the ring. I’m smiling right now, but Saturday is going to be different. I feel extremely calm in the ring. I get into ‘Rolly’ mode.

“He never knows what to say or how to react to anything. He’s taking this fight too serious. When have you seen him this skinny before a fight? He’s scared of me.

“You guys are going to see ‘Tank’ get knocked out in one round Saturday night at Barclays Center. Nothing else needs to be said.

“I got to this point faster than anyone else and I’m here for a reason. I’m the new face of boxing and everyone is going to see on Saturday when I knock ‘Tank’ out.

“All ‘Tank’ does is the same basic pad work like everyone else. They all get knocked out when they run into a big puncher. Just like his guy Adrien Broner, this is going to be an Adrien Broner vs. Marcos Maidana sequel.

Muhammad Robinson of Baltimore. MD won a four-round unanimous decision over Khari Clinkscales of Fredericksburg, VA by the scores of 4-36 from all three judges. Muhammad Robinson scores the first knockout of his career and improves his record to (3-0, 1 KO) while Khari Clinkscales starts his career off (0-1).

Results From The NoXcuse Boxing Card At Rosecroft Raceway!

On Saturday night in front of a packed house inside Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD, NoXcuse Promotions put on a four bout action packed card.

In the main-event Rianna Rios of Upper Marlboro, MD got her first TKO victory over Vera Kubickova of Tabor, Czech Republic.

In this scheduled six-round contest it was all Rianna Rios. Rios applied pressure from the start of the opening round by coming forward landing hard body shots that backed Kubickova up throughout the contest. Kubickova made it through the first-round, but Rios kept coming forward punching harder and more often. Kubickova started to show signs that she was hurt, while Rios kept throwing harder shot. Kubickova finally gave in and was dropped from shots to the head and body her body. Referee Brent Bovell stopped the bout at 1:50 of the second-round.

Francois Scarboro Jr. of Cheverly, MD professional debut starts with a second-round TKO over Jerryd Hernandez Marysville, Kansas.

Scarboro and Hernandez exchanged some good shots in the early part of the first-round, but it was Scarboro who made the adjustments he needed to take over. In the second-round Scarboro started pressing forward to land the harder shot and good counter punches. Hernandez tried to develop some offense but Scarboro pressured him to become defensive. Scarboro's power started to show as he backed Hernandez into the corner and finally making him take a knee. Referee Kenny Chevalier saw Hernandez was overpowered and stopped the contest at 2:50 of round two.

DWayne Holmes Jr. of Upper Marlboro, MD  defeated Lavelle Barnes of Capitol Heights, MD by second-round TKO. 

Holmes displayed a dominating performance as he used a solid game plan by using his jab to land combinations that sent Barnes to the canvas in the first-round. Holmes continued putting on pressure that Barnes couldn't defend as the third-round ended. The corner of Barnes saw enough and asked referee David Braslow to stop the contest. So the bout goes into the record book as a third-round TKO at 3:00 minutes. 

Holmes improves to 2-0, 2 KO's while Barnes starts his career off at 0-1. 

Washington, DC native Deonte Washington won by first-round TKO over Khari Fields of Berwick, PA

Washington out worked Fields from the start of the round by landing shots that resulted in an early knockdown. Fields received an eight count but Washington jumped back on him causing referee Kenny Chevalier finishing to waive the contest off at 1:00 of the first-round. 

Washington improves his record to 2-0, 2 KO's, while Fields is still looking for his first victory.

Five-time world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (26-0, 24 KO's), and No. 1-ranked contender and mandatory challenger Rolando Romero (14-12, KO's) had a heated conversation during their intense three-inch distance face-off.

“We’re ready and we’ve been in camp. This isn’t our first time getting ready for ‘Rolly’. We saw how he choked up when the lights are in his face. We’ll see how he reacts when everyone is cheering against him on fight night.

Countdown To Davis vs. Romero

There has been a contractual agreement between Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero to fight on May 28 for Davis' WBA lightweight title on Showtime PPV at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.  The two were set to fight on Dec. 5 of 2021 in Los Angeles, but Romero was pulled from the matchup after being accused of sexual assault. After the Romero situation came about, Davis went on to defeat Isaac Cruz by a hard fought unanimous decision at the Staple Center in Las Angeles, CA. The Henderson Police Department in Nevada concluded that there was no clear evidence to charge Romero with the crime of sexual assault. 

The Baltimore, MD native Davis (26-0, 24 KO's) is looking to put on a more than solid performance against Romero to overshadow the twelve rounds of tough boxing he had against Isaac Cruz. 

The underrated and hard hitting Romero (14-0, 12 KO's) is coming off consecutive TKO victories over Avery Sparrow on January 23, 2021 and Anthony Yigit on July 17, 2021. He is looking to prove himself to be one of the best in the division.
