Lamont Peterson Comes Up Short In Brooklyn!

The way the fans saw the fight they will say that Peterson won the bout without question. Peterson usually starts his fights off slowly. This night was different. Peterson came out with a lot of defensive movement, but the judges looked at Garcia as the aggressive fighter in the first three rounds as Peterson circled the ring. Even when Peterson was landing on Garcia the judges saw that Peterson was fighting with a defensive strategy with lesser offense. That all changed during the middle rounds. Peterson settled down and planted his feet to land punishing punches that showed on the face of Garcia. Peterson changed the entire momentum of the bout in the last four rounds. The judges felt it wasn't enough to give Peterson the victory. One judge scored the bout a draw with a score of 114 -114, but was overruled by the other two judges who scored it 115 - 113 for Garcia.

This bout was 12 rounds but not a title fight so Peterson remains the IBF Junior Welterweight Champion  with a record of 33-3-1, (17KO's). Garcia is now 30-0, (17KO's).
