Lamont Peterson gets a shot to become the new Interim WBA Welterweight champion when he faces the current interim champion David Avanesyan of Pyatigorsk, Russia on Saturday. This bout will take place on February 18 at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, OH.  The bout is the co-feature to Adrian Broner's next bout and will be shown on Showtime.

Gervonta Davis Changed His Career After Seven Rounds Of Boxing!

Throughout 2016 the boxing world added a familiar up and coming name to their list of fighters to watch. That name is Gervonta Davis.

Undefeated Baltimore, Maryland fighter, Gervonta Davis 17-0, (16 KO's), who is also a Mayweather Promotions fighter has been nationally televised a few times, and will continue to be when he defeated Jose Pedraza for the IBF Jr Lightweight title live on Showtime Championship Boxing at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.


As the champion coming into the contest Pedraza was competitive in the first five rounds, but Davis’ speed and power started to prove to be too much as the rounds continued.  It was a sixth round body shot that clearly showed to be the deciding factor to change the will of Pedraza wanting to continue the fight.  In the seventh, Davis landed a hard right hook to the side of the head of Pedraza putting him down on the canvas. Pedraza did get up, but the fight was stopped there, as Pedraza was in no condition to continue.

Davis:  "It feels great to win my first belt," Davis said. "It was a lot of hard work, but it means a lot to me that I had a great performance and boxed really well. I appreciate the best boxer in the world backing me, Floyd Mayweather."

Gevonta Davis out of Baltimore, MD will enter this fight with a perfect record of 16-0, 15 by knockout. He’s a Mayweather Promotions fighter with plenty of punching power. That power is the reason he only has 43 rounds since turning pro back in 2013. Davis has a current knockout ratio stands at 94%. Davis has been the distance only once in his career and that was just six rounds back in 2014. Mayweather Promotions and Davis feels he is up to this challenge to become the possible next IBF Jr Lightweight champion of the world. 

The 27-year-old Pedraza also has a perfect record of 22-0 with 12 KO's. Pedraza is looking to fight from the outside so he’ll be happy he’s fighting a shorter opponent in Davis. Pedraza won the vacant IBF title in June of 2015 when he beat Andrey Klimov by unanimous decision. He then defended the crown twice by beating Edner Cherry and Stephen Smith by split and unanimous decisions. Even with those wins, Davis will be the most slickest and power punching opponent yet for Pedraza.

This bout will be the co-feature of the Badou Jack vs James DeGale WBC/IBF Super Middleweight Championship showdown live on Showtime starting at 9:30pm ET.

NICKLOW BATTLES CHAUNCEY FIELDS FRIDAY NIGHT AT MICHAEL’S EIGHTH AVENUE IN BALTIMORE!

Baltimore, MD (January 11, 2017) – When Jessie “The Beast” Nicklow enters the ring Friday evening against Chauncey Fields, he’ll do so in need of an impressive victory.

The Baltimore native has a solid 25-8-3 record with 8 knockouts and built a reputation for remarkable physical toughness. The 29-year-old however has come up short in some of his recent bouts against world class fighters including 2012 Olympic gold medalist Ryota Murata, Ronald Gavril and Sergiy Derevyanchenko. Nicklow’s undefeated when he fights in Maryland but is faced with a hungry opponent that has everything to gain.

Enter Chauncey “Grimm” Fields. Living and fighting out of Lynchburg, VA, Fields is 4-0 with 2 knockouts. On paper, some have been critical due to the experience gap however Fields’ first four fights were six rounders and he sees the opportunity as a way to better his career sooner than later.

Undercard bouts include four rounders featuring Roger Caruso and Lamont White, Ernest Hall against Cleveland Hemphill and Gary  Hudson vs Marvin Johnson.

There will also be an amateur portion of the card, topped by a heavyweight title rematch between Brian “Bam Bam” Haneschlager and Dallas Butts and Baltimore Boxing is running a 50/50 along with a silent auction to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
