Baltimore Boxing returns to Michael’s Eighth March 30

Baltimore, MD (March 9, 2017) – Jake “The Snake” Smith’s Baltimore Boxing Promotions is back in action Thursday, March 30 at Michael’s Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD with an exciting pro-am card stacked with local standouts.

Headlining the card is NABA champion “Slick” Nick Kisner against Lamont “The Problem” Singleton. Living and fighting out of Baltimore, Kisner has a solid 18-3 professional ledger with six wins by knockout. In his most recent bout, Kisner outboxed hometown favorite Brian Holstein to capture the aforementioned NABA belt. Prior to his pro career, Kisner was one of the best amateurs in the country, winning various championships.

Hailing from Dover, Delaware, Singleton owns an impressive 8-1 record and has six knockouts. Fresh off a first round knockout in February, Singleton is confident he’ll earn his biggest victory to date against Kisner.

The non-title bout is scheduled for 8 rounds.

Middleweight prospect “Dangerous” Donald Wallace looks to raise his record to 3-0 when he squares off with Barry Trotter in four round all-Maryland showdown. Wallace of Baltimore is fresh off an exciting six round decision victory over previously unbeaten Tahir Thomas in September. Fighting out of Columbia, Trotter’s 2-2 and has a win over 3-0 Tracey Brewer.

Welterweight phenom Joey “Bazooka Joe” Veazey of Baltimore meets durable Washington DC Lamont White in a four rounder. The popular Veazey, who called out UFC star and boxing hopeful Conor McGregor, turned pro last October with a decision win. A seven fight veteran, White’s faced 5 unbeaten opponents and has never been stopped.

Steve “Show Stealer” Wheeler returns to the squared circle for the first time in 6 ½ years to face an opponent to be named in a four round cruiserweight contest. Wheeler, 6-0 (5 KO’s), is a massive ticket draw and looks to continue where he left off.

The amateur portion of the card will feature former East Coast heavyweight titlist Brian “Bam Bam” Haneschlager of the Baltimore Boxing Gym. Haenschlager, a heavy handed fighter, is expected to turn pro in the near future.

Injury in Training

LAS VEGAS (February 28, 2017) - The featherweight championship match between Gary Russell Jr. and Oscar Escandon, scheduled for Saturday, March 11 at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland, has been postponed after Escandon was injured in training, according to Escandon's promoter Sampson Lewkowicz.

"Oscar suffered an injury to his back in training and he'll be ready to go in April,'' Lewkowicz said. "He's very sorry for the delay in the fight, but these things happen in boxing. He's really looking forward to facing Gary Russell, Jr., but he wants to be completely healthy when they do meet.''

Escandon, a 32-year-old Colombian with a record of 25-2 with 17 KOs, is the mandatory challenger for Russell's featherweight championship. Jermell Charlo defending his 154-pound title against Charles Hatley will be the co-feature on the rescheduled card.

"It's definitely irritating,'' Russell said. "But injuries happen especially when you have somebody pushing their body to the limit for a fight that is potentially life changing. It's disappointing. It might not work out for him because I have a little more time to get ready.''

"We're working with the venue and the network to find the earliest date that we can reschedule the show,'' said Tom Brown of TGB Promotions. "I feel terrible for the fighters who have been training so hard and now have to wait. Gary is really disappointed, but he understands that injuries are all a part of the sport. But Gary will be ready to go on the rescheduled date.''

A new date for the fight will be announced shortly.

King's Promotions Fighter Mykal "The Professor" Fox Looking Forward To Next Fight!

Undefeated junior welterweight prospect, Mykal "The Professor" Fox will take on hard-punching Tre'Sean Wiggins in the eight-round main event of a big night of boxing on This Saturday night, February 11th at the Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, Maryland.

The show is promoted by King's Promotions.


Fox, 21 years old of Forestville, Maryland is coming off a good 2016, where he went 4-0 and became a main event fight in the Maryland area.

The 3-year pro is coming off a 7th round stoppage over Juan Rodriguez on November 5th in the same venue.

Fox is wrapping up training camp in the D.C. area, and he believes that Wiggins could be the toughest test of his young professional career.

"Training camp has been great.  It has been another good camp," said Fox.




"Wiggins is a dangerous opponent.  I have fought opponents that may have had more experience, but Wiggins has a lot of power in both hands.  He is left handed like I am."

Fox has been progressing up the ladder, and now he is considered to be on some prospects lists on the East Coast.  A win over the heavy handed Wiggins would solidify his status as 2017 progresses.

"I think fighting him is the next step in my progression.  I wanted to be tested, and Wiggins is a guy who has power.  I am not looking to take those punches, bit if I do, I will be ready for what he has."




Fox doesn't have to look far for motivation, as he brother, talented middleweight Alantez Fox has a bout on February 25th for the NABF title, and the two train side by side with each other under the guidance of their trainer, who also happens to be their father, Troy Fox,

"We are both very motivated.  We are there for each other.  We feed off each other in the gym and it is a great motivator to train next to him every day."

A win over Wiggins will keep Fox moving towards his short term goal for 2017.
