Demond Nicholson Drops Decision In New York!

In a eight-round super middleweight bout Demond "DBestAtIt" Nicholson lost by split decision to Steve Rolls in Verona, NY.

In the last few seconds of the first-round Rolls landed a left hook to the head of Nicholson to drop him to the canvas! Nicholson looked to bounce back in the later rounds, and even put Rolls on rubbery legs at times. 

After being hit with some hard shots from Nicholson, Rolls started to grab and make Nicholson smother his puches.  Nicholson wasn't able to land the shots he needed to convince the judges that he was taking charge of the contest. The judges score the bout 77-75 for Nicholson and 77-74 twice for Rolls. 

Nicholson falls to (17-2-1, 16 KO's) while Steve Rolls remains perfect at (16-0, 9 KO's).

Demond "D'Best At It" Nicholson hit the scale today in New York in preparation for his eight-round encounter against undefeated Steve Rolls of Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Friday, June 9th at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, NY.  The bout will be a part of a ShoBox The New Generation telecast on Showtime.

Action Packed Night Of Boxing At Rosecroft Raceway In Fort Washington, MD!

Kings Promotions did a fantastic job at putting together six bouts with round after rounds of consistent boxing for the fans enjoyment. Every hometown fighter performed at a high level and their opponents came to battle and not lay down.


The main event featured Kings Promotions fighter, undefeated super lightweight Mykal "The Professor" Fox of Forestville, Md winning an eight-round unanimous decision over "The Hudson Valley Kid" Daniel Sostre of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. Fox started this contest in the center of the ring using his jab to keep Sostre moving backwards and off balance. Sostre tried to shorten the tall 6"4' frame of Fox by attempting to slide inside the guard of Fox but with no success. It was Fox using great angles to slip the attack of Sostre to land a perfect straight left hand that dropped Sostre in the last round. Fox used some outstanding defense that didn't allow Sostre to create any opportunities to land any meaningful shots of his own. The judges scored the bout 80-71 and 79-72 (twice).  Fox is now (14-0, 4 KO's) while Sostre's falls (13-13-1, 5 KO's).


In the co-feature, Forestville, Md junior welterweight Tyrek "I Get Busy" Irby won a six-round unanimous decision over Brandon "Bam" Sanudo of Baja California, Mexico. Irby opened the bout up by using his jab to push Sanudo around the ring. Sanudo was off balance much of the bout, but still was trying to land shots of his own. Irby used his jab and then moved to the body to slow Sanudo down. As the rounds moved on it was no doubt that Sanudo was feeling the shots Irby was dishing out. Judges Brent Bovell and David Braslow saw the bout, 60-54 while judge Gradowski saw Irby dominating the bout and scored the contest 60-52. Irby is now (3-0, 1 KO) while Sanudo drops to (5-5, 2 KO's).


Greg "The Sharpshooter" Outlaw, the junior welterweight out of Bowie, Md scored a fourth-round TKO over Mario Perez of Baja California, Mexico. Outlaw had a very good opening round using his jab from the southpaw style. He made it even more difficult for Perez by switching to the conventional style that worked even better for him. Outlaw was able close the distance to put more combinations together that included shots to the head and body of Perez. The adjustment Outlaw made gave him the opportunity to send Perez to the canvas four time throughout the contest. Perez went down once in both the second and third rounds, then two more times in round four. It was after the final knockdown when the bout was stopped at 1:32. Outlaw remains undefeated at (3-0, 1 KO).  Perez falls to (1-2).


Super welterweight "Slick" Justin Hurd of Accokeek, Md continues to show improvement as his career grows. Hurd stopped Alberto Delgado of Roanoke, VA in the third round. Hurd was in control of the contest from start to finish. He used a stiff jab to the head and body to slowly drain Delgado. Delgado was forced against the ropes and that's where Hurd was able to do most of the damage. The hard body shots Hurd was landing caused Delgado to drop his hands and when that happened Hurd went back to the head. Delgado suffered a bloody nose that made him looked even more battered. The corner saw enough from Hurd and called a halt to the contest at 1:23 to save their fighter from receiving more punishment. Hurd is now (3-0, 2 KO's) while Delgado is (0-2-1).

Super featherweight Malik "Lil Leak" Loften did not show any signs of having a short amateur career. The Suitland, Md native scored a forth-round stoppage over a very aggressive Jemour Edwards of Orlando, Fl. Edwards pressured Loften for the first two-rounds, but the poised Loften made the necessary changes to tire out Edwards going into the third and forth rounds. Loften started targeting the body to drain the energy out of Edwards.  The body shots started working for Loften, and he took advantage of Edward's low guard to land some overhand rights to the head of Edwards. Those shots effected Edwards to the point where referee Brent Bovell put a to stop the contest at 2:31 of the last round. Malik Loften starts his professional career at (1-0, 1 KO) while Jemour Edwards is (0-2) and is still looking for his first win. 


This entertaining card was opened up with an explosive bout. Junior lightweight Jordan “The Kidd” Peters of Washington, D.C. stopped Bryan Perez-Nevarez of Puerto Rico at the end of the second round. Both fighters came out landing some hard shots during an equal exchange of combinations. It was Nevarez who landed the counter right hook that sent Peters to the canvas in the first-round for the eight count. Peters bounced back in the second-round and landed a solid straight right hand that dropped Nenarez. From that moment it was all Peters. He kept coming forward applying pressure and eventually hurting Nevarez enough that he was unable to continue after the round ended. Peters improves to (2-0-1, 2 KO's) while Nevarez falls to (2-7-1, 1 KO).

Travis "Seveer" Reeves Looks To Defend His USBO Light Heavyweight Title!

USBO Light Heavy Weight Champion, Travis "Seveer" Reeves

Travis "Seveer" Reeves (14-2-2), will defend his title Saturday June 17 at Seever Havoc presented by Shabazz Brotherz Boxing.  Revees won the USBO title on November 12, 2016 in a second round knockout against Aaron Quattrocchi. Reeves is currently the Maryland State Cruiserweight Champion as well. 

Junior Olympics Gold Medalist Lorenzo "Truck" Simpson will step into the ring against Ashton "The Goon" Sykes. Seventeen year old Simpson (145-2) is the winner of six Ringside Boxing National Silver Gloves Championships and the nephew of  former Lineal, WBC, IBO, and IBF Heavyweight Champion Hasim Rahman. 

Sharif Rahman, son of Hasim Rahman, will be returning to the ring after an impressive KO during his professional debut in November of 2015.

UBF, and IBA World  Supper Middleweight Champion Tori Nelson (16-3) returns to the ring in Baltimore for the first time in two years. Nelson took both titles in December of 2016 by unanimous decision against Alicia Napoleon. Also returning to the ring is Baltimore native Tyrieshia Douglas (11-1). Douglas is currently the IBA Bantamweight Champion and holds the UBF Flyweight and UBF Bantamweight titles.  

Supper Middleweight Devin Butcher (6-1) will square up against Aidos Yerbossynuly (5-0). Stephon "The Surgeon" Morris (4-0), will step into the ring for the first time since after a majority decision win against DC native Gregory Clark last November.  New to the Shabazz Brotherz Boxing ring is Destiny Day-Owens who is also a native of Baltimore.

Miguel Cotto Done With Roc Nation And Signs With Golden Boy Promotions!

Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33 KOs) signs fight deal with Golden Boy Promotions starting with his 12-round bout for the vacant WBO Light Middleweight World Championship against Yoshihiro “El Maestrito” Kamegai (27-3-2, 24 KOs).

The fight will be on Saturday August 26 from Carson, Calif’s StubHub Center and live on HBO World Championship Boxing.

Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotion will partner with Cotto and Miguel Cotto Promotions on developing prospects, advancing boxing in Cotto’s Puerto Rico homeland and promoting the boxing legend’s upcoming fights.
