Greg "Sharp Shooter" Outlaw Blasted Jonathan Montrel In First Round!

Last night on the Rising Star Promotions card inside the Adrian Phillips Theater at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the main-event was set for a eight-round junior welterweight championship bout for the WBA-NABA Gold title. 

Greg “Sharp Shooter” Outlaw of Bowie, MD won by TKO at 1:14 of  the first round over Jonathan “John Boy” Montrel of New Orleans, La. Most of the action took place in the center of the ring last night. Both Outlaw and Montrel took the opportunity to set the pace by using their jabs. Outlaw was waiting patiently while Montrel tried to land shots to the body inside the guard of Outlaw. As Montrel missed with a right cross and threw a low left hook, Outlaw came back to land a powerful counter left hook that sent Montrell to the canvas. Montrel stood back up but staggered against the ropes causing referee Shada Murdaugh to stop the contest. 

Greg Outlaw improves his record to (10-1, 5 KO's) while Jonathan Montrel suffers his first defeat with a record of (12-1, 7 KO's).

Baltimore, MD's Malik Titus (5-0, 5 KO's) defeated Andrew Satterfield (5-7, 3 KO's) of Parkersburg, WV by knockout at 2:03 of the third round.

In their cruiserweight bout, Calvin Mends (4-1, 3 KO's) gets a four-round unanimous decision over Charles Johnson (2-5, 1 KO). All three judges scored the contest the same, 40-35.

On Saturday night from the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, Virginia, CNC Entertainment along with Ponytail Promotions will be putting on a six bout card. 

Doors open at 5:30 P.M., First fight starts at 6 P.M.. 

In the main-event, undefeated Seth Billups (11-0, 6 KO's) of Ashburn, Virginia will be taking on Donte Cox (6-2, 4 KO's) out of Glen Burnie, Maryland in a 6-round lightweight contest. The co-feature will be Washington, DC's Dionte Burts (4-0-1, 2 KO's) taking on Juan Rodriguez out of Haymarket, Virginia in a 4-round welterweight bout. In a 4-round cruiserweight bout, Calvin Mends of Leesburg, Virginia will take on William Brown of Fayetteville, North Carolina. The card will also feature three bouts showcasing debuting fighters. In a super flyweight 4-round bout Brient Rodriguez of Kensington, Maryland will face the debuting Anthony Gardner out of Washington, DC. Two brothers out of Baltimore, Maryland will make their professional debut together tomorrow night. Ibrahim Robinson will debut in a 4-round super welterweight bout against Paul Hartigan, Jr. out of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Muhammad Robinson will step in the ring as a professional for the time when he faces Leonidas Fowlkes of Winchester, Virginia in their scheduled 4-round welterweight contest.

Toughest Victory Yet For Gervonta "Tank" Davis!

The Mayweather Promotions superstar, Gervonta "Tank" Davis said in the final press conference that Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz would possibly bring out all his boxing skills to win this fight. Davis (26-0, 24 KOs) remained undefeated with a tougher than expected unanimous decision victory over Isaac Cruz (22-2-1, 15 KOs) of Mexico, on Sunday night. Two judges scored it 115-113 with a third having it 116-112 for the Baltimore, Maryland native. 

Cruz came out in the opening round fighting the only way he knew he would have a chance to win, coming forward the entire round with nonstop pressure. He landed a few good shots late in the round that made Davis know it was going to be an all out war. 

Davis adjusted well from the pressure of Cruz by connecting on a few blistering counter uppercuts to gain Cruz's attention. Cruz proved to have a good chin throughout the contest as Davis continued to land the counter uppercuts. 

Cruz kept coming forward landing more shots to the body of Davis. He switched it up to the head by landing a pair of good left hooks. Davis continued to land those powerful counter uppercut. 

As the rounds added up Davis started unloading right hooks to Cruz's chin. Davis clearly looked to be winning the rounds by using his speed to beat Cruz to the punch. Cruz wasn't applying the same pressure as he was in the early rounds, but Davis applied his own pressure by using his jab to set up more uppercuts along with hooks. Late in the fight Davis seems to be favor his left arm only to reveal the he did hurt it while landing a punch.

Davis: 

"I hurt my hand, so I couldn't get him out of there," said Davis, a southpaw who barley threw a left hand over the final two rounds. "I was throwing down and I hit him on top of the head. I messed it up."

Gervonta Davis vs Isaac Cruz Set, Both Make Weight!

Undefeated five-time world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis and top contender Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz handled their final business at the weigh-in in preparation before battling for Davis’ WBA Lightweight Title live on SHOWTIME PPV this Sunday, December 5 from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

Davis and Cruz came in under the 135 pound limit.
