Four local young ladies will represent the Beltway at the first-ever Women's US Olympic Team Boxing Trials in Spokane, WA beginning tonight. The entire double-elimination tournament will be shown on a live stream provided by Universal Sports beginning each night at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT on this page:

Here is how the locals look on the bout sheet:
Baltimore, MD's Tyrieshia Douglas will be in the fourth bout of the evening (112 Pounds winners bracket) against Latonya King (Wingate) of Harrison Township, MI.
DC's Asia Stevenson will participate in the seventh bout of the evening (132 Pounds winners bracket) and take on N'yteeyah Sherman of Barberton, OH.
The ninth bout of the night (165 pounds winners bracket) will feature Baltimore's Franchon Crews who will battle Flint, MI's Claressa Shields. Crews is the reigning national champion at 165 pounds.
Alexandria, VA's Dara Shen will follow in the 10th bout (165 pounds winners bracket) when she faces Andrecia Wasson of Centerline, MI.
In other bouts on this first night of competition, six-time 112-pound national champion Marlen Esparza of Houston, TX will open the card with her bout against Cynthia Moreno of Phoenix, AZ. Bout two will have Taversha Norwood of Marietta, GA against Alex Love of Monroe, WA. The third bout of the night will be another 112-pound bout between Christina Cruz of New York City and Virginia Fuchs of Kemah, TX.
In the 132-pound bracket, reigining national champ Queen Underwood of Seattle, WA will have a home-crowd advantage when she battles Bertha Arcil of Yonkers, NY in bout number five. Bout six is an all-California affair as Lisa Porter of Northridge takes on Mikaela Mayer of Los Angeles. Moving to bout eight, Tiara Brown of Lehigh Acres, FL faces Patricia Manuel of Long Beach, CA.
The two other bouts in the 165-pound division are the last two bouts of the evening. Tiffanie Ward of Hacienda Heights, CA takes on Tiffanie Hearn of San Diego, CA. The final bout of the night will be between Tika Hemingway of Pittsburgh, PA and Raquel Miller of San Francisco, CA.
The champions in each of the three weight divisions at the Olympic Trials will move on to the 2012 Women’s World Championships in Qinhuangdao, China, where they will need to place in the top eight to earn berths in the 2012 Olympic Games.
