Fighting out of the Baltimore Boxing Club, Veazey was a top performer in the amateurs, winning many tournaments and earning an international ranking during his impressive 100 fight career. He graduated from Northeast High School as an honor student in May and will be pursuing a mathematical engineering or computer science degree. The popular 18-year-old was a big crowd draw in and around the Baltimore area during his amateur career.Veazey said of turning pro, “It’s a dream come true I’ve been looking forward this since my first amateur fight. I’m excited to go out there and follow my dream. The amateurs were fun but my dream has always been to go pro and to win world titles. I want to become a household name one day so now is the time to get on track.”
Jake Smith, Veazey’s manager and a longtime staple in the DC, Maryland, Virginia boxing scene, is extremely excited for his pro debut and sees a bright future.
“Joey’s a very poised and mature fighter far beyond his years. He’s a well-balanced person in and out of the ring who has everything in place to do well at the professional level.
