Cason took his time to find the distance he needed to send Brown to the canvas with a hard right hand in the second-round. Brown managed to beat the count and made it to his feet. Later in the second-round Cason landed a hard left jab to send Brown to the canvas for a second time. Brown was able be beat the count again to finish the round. Brown turned things around after being put on the canvas twice by landing some shots that had Cason backing up at times throughout the contest. Cason settled down and went back to using his jab to slow down Brown's offense. Brown started to slip the jab of Cason to land more good counter shots on Cason. The bout was much of a toe to toe battle as the fighters exchanged some hard shots in the last two round. It was the two early knockdowns that sealed the deal for Cason as the judge scored the contest 58-54 and 59-53 twice for Cason.
Cason improves his record to (6-0, 3 KO's) while Brown falls to (8-2, 6 KO's).
