Results From The Shabazz Brotherz Card At Martin's West!
In the opening bout of the card middleweight Omar Kabary-Salem of Brooklyn, NY defeated Latiss Norman of Cleveland, OH a four-round contest by unanimous decision. Salem was the more active fighter throughout the bout, but didn't have Norman in any trouble. If Norman's punch output was a little higher he possibly could've won the bout. All three judges scored the contest 40-36 for Salem.
Salem improves to (3-0) while Norman falls to (1-2).

In another middleweight four rounder. Ashton "The Goon" Sykes of Columbia, MD won by unanimous decision over Alberto Delgado of Roanoke, VA. Sykes made good use of his jab to keep moving Delgado backyards during the entire bout. The jab was the key for Sykes. He was able to land his right hand at will and outscore Delgado in every round. All three judges scored the contest 40-36 for Sykes.
Ashton Sykes in now 2-1 as Delgado is still looking for his first win with a record of (0-3-3).

The debuting Travis "Holy" Toledo of the Bronx, NY got the TKO victory over Marvin Johnson of Baltimore, MD. The bout started with Johnson having the upper hand by landing some devastating power shots that hurt Toledo early in the first-round. It was Toledo who closed that round off strong when he had Johnson hurt at the sound the bell. Toledo capitalized on his strong first-round finish by jumping on Johnson from the start of round two. Toledo landed a solid right uppercut to send Johnson to his knees as his face contacted the canvas. Referee Brent Bovell saw that Johnson was too hurt to continue and waived the bout off at 39 seconds into the second-round.
Toledo starts his career off at 1-0, 1 KO while Johnson suffers a early defeat and is now (1-1,1 KO).

Sharif "C3" Rahman went the distance for the first time by getting a four-round unanimous decision over Tahlik Taylor of Greensboro, NC. It wasn't a easy bout for Rahman as Taylor pushed him to fight hard in every round. Rahman got the best of the exchange of punches, but Taylor connected with some of his counter shots. Two judges scored the contest 40-36 while the other judge had it 39-37 all for Rahman.
Sharif remains undefeated at (3-0, 2 KO's) while Taylor is now (3-11-1, 1 KO).

In the amateur portion of the card, top USA Boxing's nationally ranked Lorenzo Simpson of Baltimore, MD defeated Maurice Winslow, Jr. by unanimous decision with the scores of 30-27 from all three judges.

Mack Allison IV (7-11, 7 KO's) of Baltimore, MD and Donte Cox (2-0, 1 KO) of Laurel, MD participated in a four-round exhibition bout.

In a ten-round UBF Super Flyweight title bout between Tyrieshia "Lady Tiga" Douglas of Baltimore, MD and Helen "Iron Lady" Joseph of New Haven, CT by way of Nigeria ended in a majority draw. Coming into the bout it seemed as if the speed of Douglas would be the deciding factor, but the pressure of Joseph quickly changed that for Douglas. Joseph had Douglas backing up most of the fight. Douglas was the less busier of the two but, she seemed to land just as many shots as Joseph did. Judge Don Risher scored the bout 98-92 for Joseph but was overruled by David Braslow and John Gradowski who scored it 95-95.
Tyrieshia Douglas is now (13-11, 6 KO's) while Helen Joseph adds a second draw to her record, (11-3-2, 10 KO's).

In a four-round cruiserweight bout Muhsin Cason of Las Vegas defeated the debuting Charles Johnson of Washington, DC by unanimous decision. Cason established himself from the opening bell by using his jab to keep Johnson off balance. In the final rounds Cason added some right hands to follow his jab to win the contest with the scores of 40-36 from all three judges.
Cason improves to (2-0) as Johnson starts his career off (0-1).

The son of former undisputed World Heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman, Sr., Hasim Rahman Jr. of Baltimore, MD won his heavyweight bout against Steven Tyner of Albany NY. It was a scheduled four-round bout, but Rahman Jr. landed a hard left hand with one second left that sent Tyner down for an eight count to close out the first-round. Tyner was still hurt from that shot and was looked over by the ringside physicians and the bout was stopped before the second-round started. The contest was called off at one second of round two.
Rahman is remains undefeated at (5-0, 4 KO's) while Tyner is now (4-16-3, 2 KO's).
