Gervonta Davis Being Challenged By Abner Mares For His WBA Crown!

Jr. Lightweight champion Gervonta Davis will defend his WBA title against three-division world champion Abner Mares on Saturday, February 9 live on SHOWTIME. This will be another exciting event presented by Premier Boxing Champions from the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

 Davis vs. Mares will be a fight where boxer/power puncher meets boxer/thinker. Davis, "Tank" (20-0, 19 KOs), 24, of Baltimore, MD, a southpaw who rumbles through his opponents and has knockout power in both hands. It's been proven with 19 of his 20 fights ending early. 


Mares has some memorable fights against some world ranked fighters. He will be moving up in weight and looking to capture a world title in a fourth weight class. Mares (31-3-1, 15 KOs), 33, of Montebello, California, has won world titles at bantamweight, junior featherweight and featherweight. Now he looks to dethrone Davis from his Jr. Lightweight title seat.
