"The Heavy-Hitting Diva" Franchon Crews-Dezurn Captures Her Second World Title!

In a co-main event bout Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park Franchon Crews-Dezurn now (6-1, 2 KOs) defended her WBC Super Middleweight title while also becoming the WBO champion with a 10-round unanimous decision win over Maricela "La Diva" Cornejo (13-4, 5 KOs) of Los Angeles, CA.

Franchon Crews-Dezurn was scheduled to fight mandatory challenger Alejandra Jimenez from Mexico City, Mexico but she had visa issues that caused her from making it into the United States. Cornejo took the fight on a two day notice for this rematch. The bout was full of hard hitting exchanges from both ladies. Crews-Dezurn started the action early as she was the first to land cleanly while Cornejo was willing to exchange. It was at the midway point of the contest where Cornejo was able to land some good counter left hooks that Crews-Dezurn handled well. Crews-Dezurn landed the harder shots during the later rounds to wear down the exhausted looking Cornejo. Judges Carla Caiz and Pat Russell scored the bout 98-92 while Daniel Sandoval saw a 97-93 score.
