On the Ponytail Promotions card Saturday night at the Masonic Temple in Norfolk, VA, Rockville, MD Super Flyweight Alexandru "Spartan" Marin won the vacant IBO Inter-Continental Super Flyweight title over Michael Ruiz, Jr. of Fresno, CA. In this contest Marin put on a dominating performance by dropping Ruiz to the canvas with two left hooks he couldn't recover from. Ruiz was unable to beat the ten-count so the bout was stopped at 44 seconds of the second round.
This is Alexandru Marin's second IBO title. Marin won the IBO International Bantamweight title with a third-round TKO over Johnny Determan of Dallas, TX on June 11, 2016. The win last night automatically put Marin in position as the mandatory challenger for the IBO Super Flyweight World title. Alexandru Marin remains undefeated at (16-0, 11 KO's) and Michael Ruiz Jr. falls to (12-5-3, 4 KO's).
