Baltimore, MD’s Gervonta Davis battered Jesus Cuellar to win WBA title on the Adrien Broner vs. Jessie Vargas undercard at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Davis showed he was more dedicated in this fight than he was his his last performance against Francisco Fonseca on August 26 in Las Vegas. Davis wasted no time showing he was the faster fighter in this scheduled twelve-round championship contest. Davis landed a straight left to the body that sent Cuellar to one knee at the halfway point of the second round. Cuellar was able to finish out the round, but he clearly showed he was hurt. Davis came out in the following round, and landed a left uppercut to put Cuellar down for the second time. Cuellar was in trouble while Davis kept coming forward to drop Cuellar with a left, right combination that sent him to the canvas a third time. Referee Benjy Esteves waved the bout off at 2:45 of round three.

Gervonta "Tank" Davis record remains perfect at (20-0-19 KO's) while Jesus Cuellar is now (28-3, 21 KO's).
