Laurel, MD's Demond "D'BestAtIt" Nicholson defeated veteran Fernando "El Huracan" Castaneda of Aquascalientes, Mexico by second-round knockout to retain his WBC USNBC Super Middleweight title on the Shabazz Brotherz boxing card that took place Saturday, December 8 at the A.C. Jordan Arena on the campus of Bowie State University.
Nicholson used a good jab to stay in the face of Castaneda causing him to keep a high guard. Once Nicholson saw the effectiveness of the jab he started to land shots to the body as well. Nicholson continues to show more boxing skills as he goes into each of his fights. He put together some good head and body combinations in the second-round. It was a hard right uppercut that landed to send Castaneda flat on his back and caused referee Kenny Chavalier to wave the contest off at 2:10 of round two.
Nicholson is now (20-3-1, 19 KO's) as Castaneda falls to (26-13, 17 KO's).
