"Swift" Jarrett Hurd Gets Impressive Win Over Frank Galarza!

Hurd becomes a top prospect that is on his way to becoming a solid Junior Middleweight contender.

Junior Middleweight "Swift" Jarrett Hurd, 25, of  Accokeek, MD had a night to remember at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Hurd battled 30 year old "Notorious" Frank Galarza of Brooklyn, NY. Galarza was considered the favored fighter of the two undefeated coming into this ten round contest.

Galarza opened the contest pressuring Hurd, as he said he would do during his pre-fight interview. He came out using his jab and body shots to push Hurd up against the ropes during the first round. Hurd also started to mix it up with Galarza in the second half of the first round. The younger Hurd changed the tide of the fight by using his jab and moving more often to keep Galarza off balance. In round two Hurd continued to pull away from Galarza by landing his jab and following it up with right hand counter punches. It was pretty much the same for Hurd in the third round.

In round four Hurd started to put together more combinations. The jab seemed to open up more opportunities for Hurd. He was using the jab more to the body of Galarza. Hurd even started using the right hand to open up the guard of Galarza. When Galarza tried to adjust to Hurd's offense Hurd came back with a eight punch combination that ended with a right uppercut to send Galarza down for an eight count. Galarza was never the same after that knockdown. Hurd kept landing the overhand right to continue to weaken Galarza during round five. In round six Hurd started back using his jab consistently. It was the jab that gave Hurd the opening to land another uppercut and overhand right that cause Galarza to turn away and run from the power of Hurd. Referee Russell Mora jumped in and stop the fight by TKO at 59 seconds of round six.

"Swift" Jarrett Hurd keeps his record perfect at 17-0, (11 KO's) while Frank Galarza falls to 17-1-2, (11 KO's).
