Toughest Victory Yet For Gervonta "Tank" Davis!

The Mayweather Promotions superstar, Gervonta "Tank" Davis said in the final press conference that Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz would possibly bring out all his boxing skills to win this fight. Davis (26-0, 24 KOs) remained undefeated with a tougher than expected unanimous decision victory over Isaac Cruz (22-2-1, 15 KOs) of Mexico, on Sunday night. Two judges scored it 115-113 with a third having it 116-112 for the Baltimore, Maryland native.

Cruz came out in the opening round fighting the only way he knew he would have a chance to win, coming forward the entire round with nonstop pressure. He landed a few good shots late in the round that made Davis know it was going to be an all out war.

Davis adjusted well from the pressure of Cruz by connecting on a few blistering counter uppercuts to gain Cruz's attention. Cruz proved to have a good chin throughout the contest as Davis continued to land the counter uppercuts.

Cruz kept coming forward landing more shots to the body of Davis. He switched it up to the head by landing a pair of good left hooks. Davis continued to land those powerful counter uppercut.

As the rounds added up Davis started unloading right hooks to Cruz's chin. Davis clearly looked to be winning the rounds by using his speed to beat Cruz to the punch. Cruz wasn't applying the same pressure as he was in the early rounds, but Davis applied his own pressure by using his jab to set up more uppercuts along with hooks. Late in the fight Davis seems to be favor his left arm only to reveal the he did hurt it while landing a punch.

Davis:

"I hurt my hand, so I couldn't get him out of there," said Davis, a southpaw who barley threw a left hand over the final two rounds. "I was throwing down and I hit him on top of the head. I messed it up."

Gervonta Davis vs Isaac Cruz Final Press Conference Quotes

Undefeated five-time world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis and top contender Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz met up and faced off at their final press conference in preparation for Davis’ WBA Lightweight Title before they headline a SHOWTIME PPV this Sunday, December 5 from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

GERVONTA DAVIS

“I’m happy and excited to be in this position, I’ve been working hard getting ready for this new opponent. I know Cruz is going to come to fight. The fans are going to be the winners in this fight because we’re both coming in prepared to be at our best. I’m ready to put on a great show on December 5."

“Anything can happen in boxing, so I just try to stay on task. I’m always ready to step up to any challenge thrown my way and get the job done."

“This is a more interesting fight now because we both come forward. This is going to be something great for the fans and another exciting night for the sport of boxing. May the best man win. We’re both coming with our ‘A’ games."

“He can say I haven’t faced someone like him, but he’s never fought anybody like me either. I can box and I can hit. We’ll see what he’s saying when he gets hit in the face."

“December 5 is going to be fireworks for sure. It’s going to be something you can’t miss. Don’t go get your popcorn or anything like that during this fight. This is another tough task, but this is what I’m made for."

“You always have to adapt in boxing. No matter what comes your way. I’m going to adapt to Cruz. I’m figuring out every day how Cruz is thinking and what he’s going to bring to the fight."

“Cruz has impressed me in his past fights. He comes in there to win. He doesn’t look to just hang in there. He wants to go in and take it. He’s not an opponent I can overlook. A win over him would be big for me."

“It is different training to fight a shorter opponent. I usually fight guys taller than me, so it’s an adjustment. It’s another thing I have to adapt to. Everything we’re doing is to figure him out."

“December 5 is going to be a fireworks show. This is going to be one of the best fights of the year. It’s not just a boxing match, it’s an event. Make sure you come out."

“I’m excited to be in this position. I’m grateful for it. I’m trying to continue to grow as a fighter and just improve each day."

ISAAC CRUZ

“December 5 is going to be a great fight. I’m ready to shock the world and become the next star in the pantheon of Mexican boxing champions."

“I’m ready to put on a show on December 5 at STAPLES Center. There was a wide array of feelings when I knew I got this fight, but most of all, it made me really motivated to be ready for this opportunity."

“We are not overconfident in any way, but Gervonta has not fought anyone with my style and with my characteristics. We’re working really hard to make sure my style will work the best that it can on December 5."

“The real winner of this fight is going to be the fans. ‘Pitbull’ and ‘Tank’ are going to crash into each other and people will be on the edge of their seats."

“I can guarantee that I’m hungry and motivated to win this fight. I’m fighting for more than myself, I’m fighting for my family and to make my country proud. I know that if I win this fight, it will change my whole career."

“The key to defeating Gervonta is for me to want it more. I want that belt in my hand. It’s going to come down to determination."

“I’m always thankful for the opportunities I get. It’s my job to work hard and take advantage of each opportunity as I get them. I’m going to come forward and present my power. Once he feels my power, the fight is going to turn toward me."

“It’s up to Gervonta to show that he’s a superstar in the ring. I don’t see him as an impossible task to defeat at all."

The Oxon Hill, Maryland, native got past another Olympian in the semifinals when he beat Samuel Kisohurry of France. He previously scored one of the biggest upsets of the competition when he beat defending world champion Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov of Uzbekistan in the second round.

Lorenzo "Truck" Simpson Dominates In Front Of His Hometown Crowd!

It was a short but entertaining night of boxing inside the Patapsco Arena in Baltimore, MD. This four bout card had one fight that went the distance.

Here are the results of the Shabazz Brotherz and Xquizit Sports professional boxing card that took place Saturday night at the Patapsco Arena in Baltimore, MD.

The main-event featured Baltimore, MD middleweight Lorenzo "Truck" Simpson getting the early TKO over Luis Solis of Progreso, Yucatán, Mexico. Simpson came out strong at the sound of the bell as he tried to land that knockout blow. Simpson went to the body and head early to show Solis that he wasn't going to make it through the first-round. Simpson backed Solis into a neutral corner and went to work. It was all power shots that Solis couldn't handle. Referee Bill Clancy saw that Solis was definitely hurt and not defending himself so he stopped the contest at 1:50 of the opening round.

Lorenzo Simpson improves to (11-0, 7 KO's) while Luis Solis drops to (25-14, 21 KO's).

Here's the full fight.

In the co-featured bout Darren Cunningham won by eight-round unanimous decision over Rob Diezel. Cunningham of Las Vegas was coming off a unanimous decision loss of his own to Joseph Ambo a few months earlier in August. That particular bout was for the vacant NABF super bantamweight title. Cunningham got on track with a solid performance against Diezel. Cunningham sent Diezel to the canvas in the second but didn't capitalize to get the stoppage. Diezel recovered and pretty much was on survival mode during each remaining round. Cunningham tried to land the knockout punch that could possibly end the fight but never set it up properly. All three judge scored the contest for Cunningham 80-71.

Darren Cunningham improves to (14-1, 7 KO's) while Rob Diezel is now (14-9, 4 KO's).

In a scheduled six-round cruiserweight contest Muhsin Cason defeated Lamont Capes by TKO. In this bout Cason did a good job of going to the body of Capers early. Cason showed he had a power jab that he landed often on Capers. Capers landed a hard right hand but Cason took that shot well. Cason kept the pressure up and came forward while forcing Capers against the rope where he put a flurry of shots together that Capers couldn't handle. Capers took a knee three different times during the round causing referee Bill Clancy to stop the bout a 2:58 of round three.

Muhsin Cason record remains a perfect (9-0, 6 KO's) while Lamont Capers fall to(11-16-5, 2 KO's).

In the opening bout of the Shabazz Brotherz and Xquizit Sports card Rashad Dendy of Baltimore, MD performed well in his pro debut by getting a TKO victory over John Brewer of Missouri in the first-round of their middleweight contest. Dendy went straight at Brewer landing all power shots. Brewer felt the power early and had no chance of putting together his punches. Brewer was getting hurt more and more as Dendy kept he hard punches coming. Referee Brent Bovell jumped in to save Brewer from the punishment. The bout was stopped at 2:33 of the opening round.

Rashad Dendy starts his pro career at (1-0, 1 KO) while John Brewer falls to (3-4-1, 2 KO's).
