Lucas Matthysse Makes Solid Comeback Performance!






The 34-year-old Lucas Matthysse, of Chubut, Argentina, improved to 38-4 and scored his 35th knockout. The 26-year-old Emmanuel Taylor (20-5, 14 KOs), of Cleverly, Maryland, is now 3-4 in his past seven fights.

Matthysse, suddenly bleeding from a cut around his right eye, floored Taylor with a straight right hand that knocked Taylor to the canvas with around 1:40 to go in the third round. Taylor was able to get up, but could last only two more rounds.

With 57 seconds left in the fifth round, a right-left combination from Matthysse dropped Taylor for the second time in the fight. Taylor was disoriented but was able to reached his feet, but referee Jay Nady decided Taylor shouldn’t continue at 2:21 of the fifth round.

Alexandria, VA's Keyshawn Davis captures the 132-pound National Golden Gloves championship title with a victory over Adrien Benton of Cincinnati.

Davis is the first Beltway Boxer to win a National Golden Gloves championship since 2014.

Lucas Matthysse vs Emmanuel Taylor Looks To Be A Comeback Fight For The Jr. Welterweight Division!



Former Interim WBC super lightweight champion Lucas "La Maquina" Matthysse (37-4, 34 KOs) returns to action for the first time since October 3, 2015 against Maryland welterweight Emmanuel "Tranzformer" Taylor (20-4, 14 KOs).


Matthysse is a fan-favorite fighter, power-puncher from Argentina.  His signature victories have been against former world champions Ruslan Provodnikov, Lamont Peterson, Humberto Soto, DeMarcus Corley and Vivian Harris


Taylor was a decorated American amateur boxer who owned a 186-26 amateur record, including three gold-medal performances in the National PAL Championships.  The 26-year-old has never been stopped as a professional, taking world champions Adrian Broner and Chris Algieri the distance.  Taylor has defeated Karim Mayfield, Victor Manuel Cayo and Raymond Serrano, among the more notables.

The two top contenders will go head to head on the televised undercard HBO pay-per-view portion of the Canelo vs Chavez main event Saturday May 6th in Las Vegas.
