Jordan White Shifting Gears To Move Up In The Super Featherweight Division Rankings!

When the world of boxing resumes, super featherweight prospect Jordan "Shortdog" White will be primed to ascend into contendership

The 22 year-old native of Washington, DC has a record of 10-1 with eight knockouts.

White began boxing at the age of eight after his cousin, 2000 United States Olympian Clarence Vinson piqued the young White's interest in the sport.

That led White to a prosperous amateur career that saw him register a record of 145-16, which included nine national championships and win at the Jr. National travel squad gaining his international competition alongside of teammates Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson, where he competed in the Jr. World Open in Kiev, Ukraine.

White turned professional at the age of 18 and signed with power broker Al Haymon.

After winning his first four bouts, three by knockout, White lost a decision to fellow undefeated foe Adam Lopez.

In that fight, White fought valiantly through a broken hand, but still managed to complete the six-round fight.

"From that point on, I became incredibly focused, and the results have shown," said White.

"That loss was a big lesson , and I learned a lot in that fight.  Since then, every camp has been better then the previous one.  It has made me to keep pushing harder, and it has shown me to kick things into an extra gear."

White, who is coming off a coming off a 7th round stoppage over previously undefeated Ronaldo Solis on February 28th to capture the WBC Youth Intercontinental Super Featherweight title will not let the layoff that is being caused by the Covid-19 shutdown of events across the country stifle his momentum.

"I can train in my house everyday and that is what I have been doing.  The layoff will give me more time to sharpen up my tools and be better for my next fight.  I am ready to step up.  I am ready for those fights that will make me shine.  I am looking for the fights that the money makes the sense."

At just 22, White feels that his time and recognition are very close and that will attract all of the big shot-callers of the boxing business to have White on speed-dial.

"Hopefully by this time next year, I expect to be on a lot of the top prospects, and have my fights being shown on all the major platforms.  I think because of that, I will have the opportunity to sign with a big promoter and guide me towards a world title."

(Photos by Daniel Cork)

Clinton, MD featherweight Jay Stancil III put on a dominating performance by getting a first-round TKO victory over Antonio Lucaine of Mount Vernon, NY.

Lucaine came out trying to be aggressive by throwing wild shots but Jay Stancil wasn't having any of it. Stancil made quick adjustments from his southpaw style and put together some damaging work. Stancil worked the body hard until Lucaine drop his guard down then he finished him off by going to the head with multiple hard to make Lucaine appear defenseless. Referee David Braslow saw Lucaine was overpowered and stopped the contest at 1:21 of the first round.

Stancil improves to (2-0, 1 KO) as Lucaine suffers his second loss and is now (0-4).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Suitland, MD featherweight "The Ambitious One" Malik Loften dropped a six-round unanimous decision to Charles Clark of Dallas, TX.

Loften came out in the opening round with some good bodywork and jabs until he was caught by a counter right hand that stunned him a little. Clark had the height advantage over Loften and he made it work for him. He stayed tall and used his jab while Loften kept trying to get inside to land to the body. Loften's activity level was good but Clark seized moments where he was able to counter and land hard effective shots. This was a clear contest of quantity verses quality of punches. Both fighters showed a little of both throughout this bout, but Clark looked to win the judges over with the scores of 60-54, 58-56 and 59-55.

Loften's record falls to (3-2,2 KO's) while Clark improves to (3-2, 2 KO's).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Owings Mills, MD lightweight Brandon "Brody" Chambers defeated Christopher Haney of Glendale Heights, IL by four-round split decision.

This was the third time these fighters faced each other in the ring. They battled to a draw in their first encounter and Chambers won by unanimous decision in their second bout. In this third contest tonight Chambers looked to out worked Haney in every round. Chambers came forward to land punches in high numbers. Haney landed his shots at times, but it didn't over shadow the work of Chambers. Judge Eric Irizarry saw it differently. He scored the bout for Haney 39-37 while Judges Steven Rados and John Gradowski saw it the same 40-36 for Chambers.

Chambers adds one more victory to his record and is now (3-0-1, 2 KO's) while Christopher Haney falls to (0-6-2).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cockeysville, MD middleweight AJ "We Are" Williams won by third round knockout over Michael Brock Willis of West Virginia in a four-round.

In this rematch between Williams and Willis, it was the taller Williams that made it difficult for himself until going into round three. He didn't use his jab to keep Willis at a distance. Willis was able shorten the distance by getting inside the guard of Williams and hold. Going into round three Williams started to use his jab to setup a perfect two punch combination to drop Willis to the canvas. Referee waived the bout off without a count at 2:20 of round three.

Williams improves his record to (5-1,3 KO's) as Michael Brock Willis falls to (2-7-1, 1 KO).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a four-round rematch, middleweight Maurice Winslow, III of Odenton, MD by way of Stone Mountain, GA won by disqualification against Dewayne Williams of Philadelphia, PA.

It wasn't a lot of clean action to start this bout off. Winslow and Williams did lots of holding in the early rounds. They never gave themselves any distance to use jabs. After many warnings were given to Williams for holding, referee Eric Irizarry took two points away in the third round.  Winslow had a point taken away in the fourth round. When an opportunity did come Winslow landed a few good shots. As the fight went on Williams continued to hold. Referee seen enough holding from Williams in the final round and had no other choice but to disqualify him. Winslow improves to (3-1, 1 KO) while Dewayne Williams falls to (2-3-1).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Germantown, MD featherweight Ebrima Jawara defeated Philip Davis of Worcester, MA by six-round unanimous decision.

Jawara and Davis mixed it up early in the opening round. The taller Jawara used his his jab to find his distance, but Davis slipped under the jab to land good body shots. Things heated up more in round two. Both fighters did a lot of inside work. Davis landed more good body shots as Jawara countered with uppercuts and hooks. In the closing rounds Jawara and Davis made it a tough battle. Both fighters never stopped throwing shots. It looked to be a tough fight to score for the judges. Judge Steve Rados had it 60-54 and both Eric Irizarry and David Braslow saw it the same at 59-55.

Ebrima Jawara improves to (4-1, 1 KO) while PhilipDavis falls to (2-3-1).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the opening bout of the evening Arnold, MD super featherweight Blaze Fidler Hernandez defeated Edward Hatler of Corydon, IN by four-round unanimous decision.

In this four-round bout both fighters started slow, but Hatler landed a few counter punches behind the missed jabs of Hernandez. Hernandez found his range with the jab and added some body shots to make it a good second round. Late in the third round both fighters exchanged some good shots as the bell sounded. In the final round Hernandez started very aggressive by landing the harder shots, but Hatler landed some good shots of his own to finish the contest. Judge John Gradowski scored it 40-36 while Judges David Braslow and Steven Rados saw it the same at 39-37.

Hernandez is now (1-0-1)while Edward Hatler falls to (1-2).
