The Hardwork Promotions card that took place at the Tall Cerdar's Hall in Parkville, MD was a pretty good card that had six action packed bouts. There was three knockouts and three decisions during the night. The way the knockouts happened is what made the show exciting, but every bout was competitive.
In the main event of the night Baltimore, MD's Travis Reeves was in a six round contest with Samer Barakat of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. During the first five rounds of the bout Reeves wasn't able to land the looping right hand he normally lands in most of his fights. Barakat tried at times to pressure Reeves but wasn't consistent enough to give Reeves any problems. At the end of the fifth round Reeves did finally land one of those famous looping rights to hurt Barakat as the bell sounded. In the sixth and final round Reeves backed Barakat into a neutral corner and landed that overhand right to send Barakat down for the knockout at 1:15. After Barakat went down referee Brent Bovell called the doctor into the ring to give Barakat medical attention that he needed. Barakat was carted off and sent to the hospital. The good news is Barakat was in better condition before leaving the Tall Cedar's Hall parking lot.
Reeves improves his record to 10-2-2, (4 KO's) while Barakat falls to 5-2, (3 KO's).
Kevin Womack of Baltimore. MD was in a four round contest with Tyeson Harrison of Greensboro, NC. Womack started this bout off by landing the first thrown punch of the bout, a straight left jab that sent Harrison down for an eight count. Womack did not let up after he saw that Harrison was no match for him. He put Harrison down three more times. The second time Womack landed a vicious uppercut that looked to end the fight, but Harrison made it to his feet. The next two knockdowns were from hard left hooks. Harrison survived the first hook but the second shot resulted in referee Ken Chevalier stopping the bout at 1:56 to give Womack the TKO victory.
Kevin Womack is now 7-5-3. (5 KO's) and Harrison falls to 2-3, (2 KO's).
The comeback victory of the night had to be Damont Giddins of Salisbury, MD getting the late knockout over Travis McClaren of Danville, VA. The first round was an even round, but McClaren opened up round two by turning up the pressure. He was able to land a hard left uppercut to send Giddins down to the canvas. From that point on Giddins didn't look like he was into the fight at all. In the third round McClaren kept control of the entire round. In the fourth and final round it was a different Giddins. Giddins came out and landed some hard body shots that hurt McClaren. Then he landed a left hook to send McClaren to the canvas. McClaren recovered but Giddins finished with a combination of punches to get referee Ken Chevalier to stop the contest at 1:40 giving Giddins the TKO win.
Damont Giddins improves to 2-1, (2 KO's) while McClaren falls to 1-7, (1 KO)
Rockville, MD's Danny Walters loses his professional debut by unanimous decision to Shakeel Phinn of Brassard, Quebec, Canada. The judges scores the bout 40-36 twice and 39-37 all for Phinn.
Danny Walters starts at 0-1 while Shakeel Phinn improves to 2-1, (1 KO).
Dennis Benson of Hampton, VA gets the unanimous decision over Washington, DC's Carlos Black. All three judges scored the bout the same 39-37.
Carlos Black is now 1-2, (1 KO) and Dennis Benson improves to 3-5-2, (1 KO).
Nicholas Rodriguez of Sumerset Kentucky and Arthur Parker, IV of Lancaster, PA started the evening off with a split decision draw with the scores of 39-37, 39-37, 38-38.
Rodriguez is now 0-2-1 and Parker is 1-13-2, (1 KO).
