2015 Regional Golden Gloves Championship Results!

Saturday night April 25th from the Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD there were more great performances from the DC Region. It was a great crowd cheering on the fighters, and the fighters were giving it their all. 

For the sixth consecutive year the Beltway Boxing Region will have the opportunity to bring home another National Golden Gloves Champion. Last night the DC Region put together a solid group of Open Division boxers to represent this area in Las Vegas, NV for the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions May 10-17, 2015.

The Golden Gloves tournament standout for 2015 is 132-pound Keeshawn Williams of Capitol Heights, MD. Williams won the Truman E. Tuttle Memorial Outstanding Boxer Award after an impressive win over Roger Belch III of Newport News, VA.

Shynggyskhan Tazhibay of Rockville, MD won a decision over Matthew Abregu of Leesburg, VA for the 152 pound class. Tavon Body of Burtonsville, MD is another boxer out of the same Headbanger Gym as Tazhibay. Body captured his second straight 165-pound regional title with a win over Clinso Brumfield of Alexandria, VA.

Milik Titus of Baltimore, MD will make his second trip after defeating Benjamin Dobbs of Virginia Beach, VA in the 201-pound final.

Also joining the DC Region Team will be Justin Bell of District Heights, MD won by walkover at 178 Pounds. Jordan White also joins the team by walkover in the 114 lb class.

Four of the 10 members of the 2015 Open team will come from the Virginia/North Carolina division of the region.  Diego Abregu of Leesburg, VA won by walkover at 141 Pounds because 2014 Golden Gloves Champion Gary Antuanne Russell had a shoulder injury. Jonathan Howard III of Wilmington, NC will be making his third trip to the Nationals.  Howard won the 108-pound championship with a win over Demetrius Young of Bowie, MD. Christopher Laws, Hampton, VA is is the 2015 Region Champion, and DeWayne Beamon of Goldsboro, NC advanced to the Nationals by medical walkover.

123 Pounds: DeWayne Beamon, Goldsboro, NC

132 Pounds: Keeshawn Williams, Capitol Heights, MD

141 Pounds: Diego Abregu, Leesburg, VA

152 Pounds: Shynggyskhan Tazhibay, Rockville, MD

165 Pounds: Tavon Body, Burtonsville, MD

178 Pounds: Justin Bell, District Heights, MD

201 Pounds: Milik Titus, Baltimore, MD

201+ Pounds: Christopher Laws, Hampton, VA

141 Pounds: Dante Cox, Severn, MD defeated Eduardo Mendivil of Newport News, VA

152 Pounds: Sippriano Zelldon, Silver Spring, MD defeated Jacques Jean of Fairfax, VA

165 Pounds: Aaron Anderson, Baltimore, MD defeated Carlos Cruz of Sterling, VA

178 Pounds: Darryl Lane, Washington, MD defeated Bahseem Peterson of Virginia Beach, VA

201 Pounds: Jonathen Surratt, Fort Washington, MD defeated Eric Chandler of Chesapeake, VA

201+ Pounds: Timothy Crawford, Washington, DC defeated Aubur Wright of Richmond, VA
