More Professional Boxing At The MGM National Harbor On November 2nd!

On Saturday, November 2 at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland, undefeated former champion Brian Carlos Castano will battle veteran contender Wale "Lucky Boy" Omotoso in a 10-round super welterweight showdown that headlines FS1 PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT. 

The card also features former world champions Javier "El Abejon" Fortuna and Jesus Andres Cuellar colliding in a 10-round super featherweight showdown in the co-feature.

"Saturday, November 2 promises to be a can't-miss night with two 50-50 fights that guarantee action as long as they last. The main event on FS1 and FOX Deportes will have an exciting unbeaten champion in Brian Carlos Castano looking to climb back into championship contention against Wale Omotoso, who comes forward and refuses to relent every time he's in the ring. Combined with the Fortuna vs. Cuellar fight, fans at MGM National Harbor aren't going to want to leave their seats for a minute during this show."

Castano, out of Buenos Aires, Argentina, (15-0-1, 11 KO's) won the interim WBA Super Welterweight Championship by sixth-round KO victory over Emmanuel de Jesus in 2016 and successfully defended that title against Michel Soro before being elevated to the regular champion when he stopped Cedric Vitu in 2018. On March 2 Castano battled to a split-draw against current WBA Super Welterweight champion Erislandy Lara.

Castano: 

"I cannot wait to get into the ring again and show I'm one of the best fighters in this division. I believe I should still be holding my title, and that makes me feel even more motivated to beat a tough opponent like Omotoso. He's a straight forward fighter that takes every fight to you and has never been knocked out. I know I have to prove myself in this fight in order to get back to the world title."

Omotoso (28-4, 22 KOs) of Lagos, Nigeria and now living in Los Angeles, is nicknamed "Lucky Boy''. The 34-year-old scored a dominant knockout over longtime contender Curtis Stevens on FOX in August, in just his third fight at 154-pounds. A veteran who has gone the distance against then unbeaten fighters in his only four defeats, Omotoso looks to put himself in position to fight for a world title with a victory over Castano on November 2.

Omotoso: 

"I'm very excited for this fight against a great opponent who is always in exciting fights like me. None of the welterweights wanted to fight me because I'm too dangerous, so now I'm on my way to fighting the best at 154-pounds. I feel stronger and more solid in my base at this weight. I know that I'm going to have to be at my best against Castaño and do what I know how to do."

Fortuna,34, (34-2-1, 23 KOs) defeated veteran contender Sharif Bogere on Feb. 9 by unanimous decision. Fortuna won a featherweight world championship with a unanimous decision over Bryan Vasquez in 2015 before losing the title in 2016 against Jason Sosa. Originally from La Romana, Dominican Republic and now living in Braintree, Massachusetts, Fortuna is 5-1going into this contest.

Fortuna:

"Cuellar knows that he can't beat me and knows he didn't want to take this fight. I'm a real fighter and I bring it every time in the ring. I hope he at least shows up on fight night to take his beating with no excuses."

Cuellar, 33, (29-3, 22 KOs), of Buenos Aires, Argentina like Castaño, defeated Claudio Marrero back in 2013 for the interim featherweight  title and defended it three times before being knocking out Vic Darchinyan in 2015 for the world title. He lost the title the next year with a split decision loss to Abner Mares. Cuellar moved up in weight and lost a super featherweight championship match against Gervonta Davis in 2017. After scoring a knockout over Carlos Padilla back in March 9 Cuellar is trying to get back into the world title picture. 

Cuellar:

"I'm thrilled to be facing Fortuna because we were supposed to fight back 2013 but it didn't end up happening. When we were both training in Oxnard we traded some words and there was no love lost. Now, I'm excited to settle everything in the ring on November 2."

Undercard Results From The Jeter Promotions Card At The LIVE! Casino/Hotel!

In a super featherweight bout on the Jeter Promotions card at the Live! Casino/Hotel in Hanover, MD Blaze Fidler-Hernandez and Antionio Dunton-El battled to a four-round draw. 

Dunton-El established himself early by landing some good right and left hands that connected throughout the opening round. Hernandez put together a little offense of his own during the second round as both fighters fought evenly in the center of the ring. Hernandez looked to put himself back into the mix to even up the rounds at one a piece. Going into round three Hernandez started throwing the heavier shots but wasn't connecting as often as he liked. In the final round both fighters tried to close the show by equally landing clean counter punches. It was Dunton-El who landed a hard right hand to send Hernandez a little off balance. Hernandez wasn't hurt by the punch and still came back firing some good shots to the body of Dunton-El. The judges scored the bout 39-37 Dunton El, 39-37 Hernandez and 38-38.

Brandon "Brody" Chambers defeated Christopher Haney by four-round unanimous decision in the second bout of the evening on the Jeter Promotions card at Live! Casino/Hotel.

In this four-round lightweight rematch, Owings Mills, MD Brandon "Brody" Chambers and Christopher Haney of Glendale Heights, IL had pretty much the same fast pace start as their first encounter. Chambers was putting out a high quantity of punches as Haney returned the same. It was in the third-round when both fighters settled down and started to place their shots a little better.  At the midway point of the third it looked as if Haney landed the harder shots. Chambers came back strong in the forth-round and did some good bodywork to put Haney in defensive mode giving him the win on all three judges scorecards 40-36 and 39-37 twice.

Chambers improves to (2-0-1, 1 KO) while Haney is still looking for his win and is now (0-4-2).

Clinton, MD Bantamweight Jay Stancil III defeated Ransley Washington of Cincinnati, OH by four-round unanimous decision. 


This was another contest of debuting fighters where the shorter Stancil started with a jab to the body as the taller Washington used his jab to find his range. Stancil's bodywork opened up a opportunity to land some nice hooks upstairs while Washington kept his jab working. In the final ten seconds of round two Stancil landed a hard right hand as the bell sounded. Washington continued to use a good jab that moved Stancil back during the third-round. Stancil was successful with landed good counter shots as Washington missed with his jab to finish the contest. Stancil gets his first professional win with the scores of 39-37, and 40-36 twice.

Germantown, MD featherweight Ebrima Jawara defeated James "Too Slick" Early of Seat Pleasant, MD by six-round unanimous decision.

Jawara and Early felt each other out well in the opening round. Both fighters worked the ring well as they used their jabs to land to the head and body. In the second-round Jawara got the attention of Early as he started to deposit shots to the body. Those body shots seemed to work as Early looked to slow down as round two ended. Jawara landed a jab to the eye of Early that looked to bother him at the end of round three. Jawara added pressure but Early stayed in the battle to land some sneaky overhand rights on the chin of Jawara.  In the final round Jawara pressured Early up against the ropes. Early tried to fight Jawara off, but he landed a punch below the belt. Referee Bill Clancy took a point away from Early after being warned already for low blows. All three judges scored it the same 59-56 for Jawara.

Jawara improves his record to (3-1, 1 KO) while Early fall to (4-5).

 Suitland, MD featherweight Malik Loften scored a second-round TKO over Omar Etheridge of Whiteville, NC. 


Loften gained control of the first-round by slipping the shots of Etheridge and putting together some good combinations to move Etheridge into the ropes. Loften also added some hard body shots into the mix during the first.



It was much of the same in the second-round but with more harder body shots. Loften went back to his combinations to send Etheridge into the ropes again. Loften put together a final combination of head and body shots to send Etheridge to the canvas. Referee Kenny Chevalier gave the count and waived the contest off at 2:20 of round two.

Loften improves his record t (4-1, 2 KO's) while Omar Etheridge falls to (3-2-1,3 KO's).

Washington, DC's Danny Kelly defeated Baltimore, MD's Nick Kisner by third-round TKO as the co-featured bout on the Jeter Promotions card inside the Live! Casino/Hotel in Hanover,MD. 

In this bout of local Beltway Boxing heavyweights Kisner and Kelly used the opening round to fill each other out. Kelly turned things up quickly in round two by coming forward and putting more pressure on Kisner. Kelly landed a hard right hand to send Kisner to the canvas for a eight count. Kisner beat the count but Kelly came back with that same right hand to send Kisner down again. Kisner was able to finish the round, but looked hurt. In round three Kelly had Kisner in a neutral corner and landed that right hand again for the final time to drop Kisner. Referee Bill Clancy waived the contest off as soon as the shot landed at 1:04 of the third.

Kelly returns to victory after a long layoff to improve his record to (10-3-1 9 KO's) while Kisner falls to (21-5-1, 6 KO's).

Demond "D'Best At It" Nicholson Has Strong Return In Hanover, Maryland!

Laurel, MD's Demond "D'Best At It" Nicholson defeated Devaun Lee of Jamaica, Queens, NY by unanimous decision in the main event of the Jeter Promotions card at the Live! Casino/Hotel in Hanover, MD.

Demond Nicholson looked very strong in this bout considering having to fall out of his last scheduled appearance on the May 11th card at Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, VA due to suffering serious kidney failure after weighing in. 



Nicholson landed some great counter punches that he put together after Lee's attempts to land jabs. For the first four round Nicholson applied continuous hard pressure, but Lee was able to stay in the contest. Lee did a little better job of keeping his guard up to defend himself from the hard shots Nicholson landed.

Lee also was able to land some good shots to add to his defense. Both fighters turned it into a war in round six as they exchanged shots during the entire round. 


In round seven Nicholson bounced around the ring trying to time his punches. He finally stood his ground and landed a hard right hook to back Lee into the ropes where he landed more hard left and rights to finish the round. In the eighth and final round Nicholson let his hands go. He put together a number of body shots throughout the entire round to close the show. All three judges scored the bout 79-73 for Nicholson.

Nicholson improves his record to (22-3-1, 20 KO's) while Lee falls to (10-7-1, 5 KO's).

WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo (29-0, 21 KOs) ready to defend his title against Dennis Hogan (28-2-1, 7 KOs) on Showtime December 7 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Jermall Charlo: “I’m going on two consecutive 12-rounders and I don’t feel good about that. I’m ready to get back to my thing, which is knocking them out and getting them out of there. This is a big fight for me because it’s my 30th fight and I’m about to turn 30.”

Jeter Promotions Signs Featherweight Ebrima " E Boy" Jawara!

Jeter Promotions has announced the signing of undefeated Featherweight Ebrima " E Boy" Jawara.

The 27 year-old Jawara of Germantown, Maryland, has a record of 2-1 with one knockout.

Jawara has been boxing for five years after some friends brought him down to the gym.  Jawara started practicing in Muay-Thai and then switched over to boxing, and had a 35 fight amateur career, for which he reached the finals of the Washington, D.C Golden Gloves on three. occasions.

"I am excited to sign with Jeter Promotions.  I grew up with Tony in the gym, and he has taken me under his wing.  He being a former pro boxer is important because he knows what the fighter is thinking and goes through," said Jawara.

In his pro debut, Jawara dropped a disputed split-decision to regarded Malik Loften.  Since then, Jawara has won his last two bouts, with his most recent outing being a unanimous decision over Marquel Johns (7-1-2) on August 2, 2018.

Jawara will return to the ring this Friday night when he takes on James Early at the Maryland Live Casino in Hanover, Maryland.

"I know Early is tough.  If you look at his record, he fights a lot of undefeated guys, and has defeated two of them.  He is no pushover.  He likes to fight on the inside, so I see this being a tough and entertaining fight."

Jawara is a frequent sparring partner with the Russell brothers in Washington, D.C.

When he is not boxing, Jawara works at the Infinite Fighting Concepts Gym in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where Jawara is a personal trainer and teaches a boxing class for kids.

Kevin Womack Jr. Stopped Early In Pennsylvania!

Last night at the 2300 Arena on the Raging Babe/Peltz Boxing Promotions 50th Anniversary card in Philadelphia, Baltimore, MD welterweight Kevin "The Scarecrow" Womack, Jr. lost by first-round knockout to Shinard Bunch of Trenton, NJ. 

Womack opened up the round as the more aggressive fighter by landing some of the early shots on Bunch. Bunch quickly switched things up on Womack when he landed a good left hook to send Womack's mouthpiece flying out of his mouth. During a pause in the action the mouthpiece was replace. 

That early left hand from Bunch clearly was effective enough to keep Womack unsteady. Bunch could see that Womack was hurt so he continued to come forward with more pressure. 


Bunch landed two more hard shots. It was a right counter punch followed by a left hook to send Womack to the canvas. Bunch was told to go to a neutral corner by referee Eric Dali. Once Bunch made it to the corner Dali turned to start his count for Womack, but he clearly saw Womack wasn't in any condition to continue the fight. Referee Eric Dali waived the bout off at 1:56 of the opening round. 

After gathering himself, Womack met Bunch in the center of the ring to congratulate him. Kevin Womack Jr. falls to (9-19-4, 7 KO's) while Shinard Bunch is now (3-1, 3 KO's).

Errol Spence Jr. Unifies IBF and WBC Welterweight Title By Defeating Shawn Porter!

Errol Spence Jr. wins by split decision over Shawn Porter at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles!

In a action packed battle of two champions, Errol Spence Jr. and Shawn Porter put everything on the line as they exchanged shots in this unification title fight. In the opening round both fighters didn't show much as punches weren't connected. In round two they landed some counter shots while each fighter looked off balance at times, but Porter was the busier fighter in this round. Porter continued to add up points with his heavier punch output.


Heading into the midway point of the fight, Spence picked up the pace as he picked his shots with accuracy to slow Porter down a little. Spence landed the better body shots, but it was Porter who shifted the momentum in the seventh and eighth rounds. Spence looked to be in a rough championship bout as his face was marked up from the pressure and connecting punches from Porter.

Spence bounced back in the ninth when he landed a devastating left-right combination to the head of Porter. Porter handled those shots as he stood in there to continue punching his way through to finish the round. Both guys continue to let their hands go, trading heavy shots on the inside during their exchange of punches in the tenth round. During the inside action from both fighters Spence suffered the first cut of his professional career. The cut was on the corner of his left eye and appeared to come from a headbutt.

Spence landed a right hook early to knock Porter off balance during the eleventh round. In the final minute of the round Porter was throwing a punch, but Spence timed a perfect left hand on the chin that landed clean to send Porter to the canvas. Porter beat the count and finished the round by throwing multiple shots that didn't have any effect after the knockdown. In the final round Porter started to add pressure by lunging in with shots, but Spence answered with his own counter shots.

This bout was definitely a war as both fighters had their moments at winning rounds, but the deciding moment may have been the knockdown in the eleventh round. Here are the scores from the judges: 116-111 for Spence, 115-112 for Porter and 116-111 for Spence.

Errol "The Truth" Spence Jr. remains undefeated at (26-0, 21 KO's) as Shown "Showtime" Porter suffers his third defeat and fall to (30-3-1, 17 KO's).
