Recap Of Jeter & RBA Promotions Fight Card In Springfield!

In the main event at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, VA Yurii Polischuk captured a six-round unanimous decision over Benjamin Olinga to win the Virginia State Junior Welterweight title.  Benjamin Olinga is a durable fighter that was just out boxed by Polischuk.  The judges scored the bout 60-54, and 59-55 twice.

Polischuk is now 6-1-1, two KO's.  Olinga is now 1-9.

Gerome Quigley won his bout at 2:57 of the first round over Cedric Coney. Most of that time was spent chasing his opponent down. Quigley was able to cut the ring off and land some hard right hands to put a end to the bout.

Quigley is now 5-0, four KO's.  Coney is 3-2.

Mike Sawyer gets a first round stoppage over Nathan Chambers. Chambers tried to be aggressive at the start of the bout, but did not have the boxing techniques to get the job done. On the other hand Sawyer had the power to land hard shots to send Chambers to the canvas twice. Referee put a stop to the bout at 1:07.

Sawyer is now 6-3, three KO's.  Chambers is 0-2.

Edwin Reyes wanted to get in the rounds in his bout with Tyron Stewart. The first round looked to be confusing as Reyes did not take advantage of the lack boxing skills of Stewart. Edwin Reyes entered the second round totally different. Reyes came out punching and landed a solid right hook that stopped Tyron Stewart at 40 seconds of the second round.

Reyes remains undefeated at 5-0, four KO's.  Stewart is now 3-3.

Jonathon Cepeda and Lester Gonzalez fought in a well matched bout. Cepeda scored a fifth round TKO over Gonzalez at 1:57. Late in the forth round Cepeda dropped Gonzalez. After Cepeda sent Gonzalez to the canvas he came out in round five and land a hard left hook that staggered Gonzalez , making him fall to the canvas once again. this time he could not recover.

Cepeda is now 15-1, 13 KO's while Gonzalez is 12-15-4, six KO's.

Mario Flores earned his way to the top of the list as maybe getting the Beltway Boxing Knockout Of The Year Award for 2014.  Flores was facing Christian Pittman in a four round contest. The right hand of Flores was the key to the fight. Flores used that right hand to drop Pittman three times in the bout. This is the reason Flores got his name added to the top of the list as being KO of the years. Flores sent Pittman down for two eight counts, but after that second eight count was over the referee gave the fighters the ok to continue, Flores threw one punch, and that same right hand send Pittman flying to the canvas and almost outside of the ring. This wasn't a TKO. It was a pure KNOCKOUT. The bout came to an immediate stop at 1:51 in the first.

Flores is now 5-1-2, four KO's.  Pittman drops to 3-5.

The second bout of the evening was the 6'7" 250 lb Stan Williams facing the maybe 5'10" and questionable 201 lb Jawon Love. I say questionable because Love looked as if he was maybe 160, 175 lbs. The bout started off with Love circling the ring. It seemed normal at the beginning of the bout. As the first round continued it was apparent that Love was running to survive. Williams threw and couple of punches and even landed one or two. Round two began where it ended. Love started running again. This time the running started to show, and Love was so exhausted that he had to give himself a break by taking a knee. The referee gave Love the first eight count. Then Love started back again. Running around the ring until he had to take another eight count, but this time he was just totally spent. Love ran himself into the TKO wall. The few punches that Williams landed along with the running Love did the referee gave him his final count to end the contest at 1:20 in round two.

Williamson is now 3-0, three KO's.

The first bout of the night started with Tevin Farmer in a scheduled eight round contest against Dominic Coca. Farmer stops Coca at 1:41 in round one.

Farmer is now 17-4, three KO's while Coca is 8-10, two KO's.

Overall it was another entertaining night of boxing hosted by Jeter and RBA Promotions. It was a great turnout for the size of the venue. The fights turned out as expected. The next show for Jeter and RBA promotions will be December 6, 2014 at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, VA. Jeter And RBA promotion said they already have 7-8 cards planned for 2015.
