Another Beltway Boxer gets added to the WBC's list of Champions.
Landover, MD's Phil Jackson Benson wins the WBC Fecarbox Super Middleweight title with a seventh-round TKO victory over a very tough Maxell Taylor of Baltimore, MD. It was a very exciting bout in front of a fairly large crowd at Club One Fitness in Millersville, MD. Both fighters gave the crown the type of fight they were looking for. Benson and Taylor exchanged punches in the early rounds, but it was Benson who landed the harder shots later in the fight. Benson started landing hard body shots that opened up the opportunity to land powerful head shots that took it's toll on Taylor, which led up to referee Kenny Chevalier stopping the bout 1:15 in the seventh-round.
Benson now has a impressive WBC Championship record of 12-1, 11 KO's. Taylor falls to 18-5-1, 8 KO's.
